THOR: THE DARK WORLD To Feature ALL of the Nine Realms After All?

THOR: THE DARK WORLD To Feature ALL of the Nine Realms After All?

It's been widely assumed, but we may finally have confirmation that all of Norse Mythology's nine realms will be seen in the anticipated Marvel sequel, Thor: The Dark World. Check it out!

First alluded to when Marvel Studios’ President of Production, Kevin Feige, stated that Thor: The Dark World will explore the “broader stakes for the Nine Worlds,” it's unclear whether he was speaking indirectly about a specific realm or multiple ones. And since then, we’ve yet to receive confirmation that each of Norse Mythology’s nine realms, beyond those included in the first film, will be featured and explored in the sequel.

The casting of actors Christopher Eccleston and Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, filling the roles of ‘Malekith’ and ‘Kurse,’ has already confirmed that the home of the Dark Elves, Svartalfheim, will have a big part in the Alan Taylor-directed venture. But now we may finally have confirmation of the other realms of Yggdrasil, the world tree.

Excerpted from Kinopoisk’s coverage of Russia’s annual Cinema Expo 2012, where Marvel Studios have showcased exclusive movie content years prior while under Paramount's distribution, Walt Disney Studios’ presentation apparently included concept art for Thor: The Dark World and more. In a rough translation, the site reports:

“At the presentation, we were presented concept art from which it was possible to understand the scenery of the film will fill the space. The film promises to cover not only the Earth and Asgard, but also all the nine worlds. The studio hopes that the director Alan Taylor, who has experience creating fantasy series, perfectly cope with the task of building the mythical world in the new movie about the god with the hammer.”

If not taken out of context, it seems we have Alfheim, home to the light elves, Vanaheim, home of the Vanir gods, Nidavellir, home of the Dwarves, Hel, home to the deceased of all the realms, and Muspelheim, home of the Fire Demons, to look forward to next year. However, considering each realm is home to many of Thor’s core villains from the comics, like Hela and Surtur, I wouldn't be surprised if all we get are brief glimpses of each world over a cheesy intro narration. Of course, Marvel are full of surprises. What do you think?
