Some newly revealed Thor: Love and Thunder set photos show more of what appears to be a flashback depicting the God of Thunder and Jane Foster going on a date. Will we finally learn why they broke up?

Thor and Jane Foster were still an item at the end of Thor: The Dark World, but by the time Avengers: Age of Ultron rolled around, it appeared their relationship was on the rocks. After defeating the villainous android, the God of Thunder started exploring the cosmos for answers about the Infinity Stones, and Jane was nowhere to be seen in Thor: Ragnarok

She'll return in Thor: Love and Thunder, transforming into the Mighty Thor in the process.

However, some newly revealed set photos appear to confirm that we'll revisit Thor and Jane's past relationship. Both Chris Hemsworth and Natalie Portman can be seen wearing wigs that resemble how they looked in 2013's Thor: The Dark World; some fans believe they might even be shopping for an engagement ring, and it's been theorised that this could be what leads to the breaking up.

It's great to see that Taika Waititi is going to explore this part of MCU history, especially as it's bound to inform what we see in the present day. Whether romance is (back) on the cards for these two remains to be seen, but we're expecting the focus to be put on Jane wielding Mjolnir as Thor.

Thor: Love and Thunder arrives in theaters on July 8, 2022.

My (small) complaint with Thor Ragnarok was that it was a bit too unserious at times for it's story. The twilight of the gods deserved more than a meme.

Anyway, it does look like Taika is gonna make this a more emotional though, considering the Jane story. Don't think I'm ready for another Jojo Rabbit

The degree to which Marvel has consistently gone back to THE DARK WORLD is hilarious considering it's probably the movie they've been most vocal about not "working" up to their standards

@OmegaDaGrodd - hence going back to add to it, flesh it out etc. like what Clone Wars did for the prequels

@OmegaDaGrodd - The Dark World has a bunch of good stuff that people often overlook because of its so-so storytelling.

I liked Thor and Jane and if they are visiting the relationships through flashbacks to shows us why their relationship was on a rocky place around AoU I hope that Taika is going to treat it with a minimal amount of seriousness.
