Asgard was destroyed in Thor: Ragnarok, and by the time Avengers: Endgame had rolled around, the God of Thunder and his remaining Asgardians had holed up in "New Asgard."

The Norwegian fishing village had welcomed Thor and his people with open arms, and if these latest photos from the set of Thor: Love and Thunder are any indication, they've very much made themselves at home! Of course, Valkyrie is King these days, while Thor has been exploring space with the Guardians of the Galaxy, so any changes we see here are likely to have been her idea.

Most interesting is a building that's named "Asgard Tours: Aerial Sightseeing." There's a boat nearby, so it seems New Asgard has opened its gates to the public and is taking them on rides through the sky above their settlement (quite comically, the seats are similar to those you'd find on a rollercoaster).

Does anyone else think that it would be a killer "Star Tours" style ride in Disneyland's Avengers Campus?!

New Asgard looks great here and it's no wonder the town has been built from scratch given the travel restrictions that are still in place as a result of COVID-19. Shooting has taken place entirely in Australia, though there have been rumblings recently that filming is also planned in New York City.

Thor: Love and Thunder is set to be released in theaters on May 6, 2022.

Still hoping this whole New Asgard business is gonna tie into a Siege adaptation in the future. Especially if they also are going to do a Dark Reign after Secret Invasion.

@bkmeijer - It certainly seems to be headed in that direction, it was some thing that I doubt it a few years ago but at this point seems inevitable

I am always so amazed by the quality of the design of movie sets. Those fake buildings look incredible.

I’m excited to see Thunderstruck Thor and Jane Foster team up. I’m really hoping they shoe horn in Beta Ray Bill somewhere in this movie. I feel like they could’ve introduced Beta Ray in Ragnarok but I was ok that they didn’t. But the Easter egg showed the face of Beta Ray, I hope to see home in this or Guardians 3.

@slickrickdesigns - I’ve said if Beta Ray replaced the Hulk, the film would’ve worked just as well in chronological order.

Touring New Asgard? It has to have a track that goes around the park right and we all get a ride in here?

@QuietStorm -

One of the low-key best things about Endgame on a character level is how it establishes the fact that all the heroes who survived the Snap became much closer offscreen during that 5 year gap. You see it with Carol and Rocket, Rocket and Hulk, Nebula and Rhodey and even little hints with Natasha and Okoye. Makes everything much more lived in

@OmegaDaGrodd - Fr. Stuff like that makes the MCU so great.

Something tells me this is not going to be the last Thor. I really believe there will be a fifth Thor.

@defenderofthefaith - As long as (1) Chris wants to do it, (2) enough fans want to keep seeing him, and (3) his agent doesn't charge too much money to use Chris. That last one has cost several actors recurring roles in franchises.

I think you are right. Hemsworth is still having fun with it and as long as they are profitable he will continue to play that character for years to come.

That's such a fun idea.

You figure humans would want to see what the "gods" are like. Asgardians ingratiating themselves into Earth's society too.

@BlackBeltJones - I wish they had somehow went along with this storyline, having New Asgard being outside/over Buxton (having Buxton being the New Mexico town where the first Thor takes place instead of Oklahoma, and Thor picking there bc of his first trip to Midgard)

@TheGrayGhost - I thought after Ragnarok New Mexico would've been the logical location but Tønsberg works due to its Scandinavian culture and the ties it has to Vikings and the Norse

It is also where the Asgardians repelled the Frost Giants and where the Tesseract was kept.

Asgard Tours? Are we going full dumb in Thor 4?
Origame
Origame - 5/21/2021, 7:07 AM
@McMurdo - I really don't see what's the issue here. The new asgard, as established in endgame, is located on earth. And considering their unique culture and association with Thor, an avenger who helped reverse the snap, it would make sense that this would be a location for tourists. And setting up tours is a great way to generate money for the community. This is how the real world works, so I really don't know what makes this a sign of going full dumb.
LSHF
LSHF - 5/21/2021, 7:22 AM
@Origame - Exactly. Many towns and cities would LOVE to have a reason to get tourists to help generate money (unless the tourists make things worse; which many do).
LongMayHeReign

"But I want to be king, why can't I be King"

i wonder if they will address the fact that aliens are just welcomed to find their own corner of this planet? You would think their would be other Zemo types that would be against this.
