SHAZAM Star Zachary Levi Weighs In On His Last Line As Fandral Being Cut From THOR: RAGNAROK SHAZAM Star Zachary Levi Weighs In On His Last Line As Fandral Being Cut From THOR: RAGNAROK

Zachary Levi had only a very minor role in Thor: Ragnarok and the actor - who is making the leap to the DC Films Universe as Shazam - has now weighed in on how it felt seeing his only line get cut...

The Warriors Three weren't treated at all well in Thor: Ragnarok and all but Hogun was killed off in a matter of seconds. In the case of Zachary Levi, he was only given the opportunity to start running at Hela before she effortlessly dispatched both Fandral and Volstagg with some throwing knives. While Levi is now set to take on a far more significant role in the DC Films Universe with the lead role in Shazam, many fans were still upset to see him given such a minor and forgettable part in the movie.

In the video below, Levi attempted to explain what happened to poor old Fandral. "For those of you who have watched the movie, you see that Cate Blanchett comes out and she very just willy-nilly throws some knives of demonic purpose, I don’t know, they’re evil knives impaling both me and Volstagg, killing us instantly," he said, recapping the events of Thor: Ragnarok for fans. "The end."

Fandral didn't get so much as a single line of dialogue in the Taika Waititi helmed release but it turns out that wasn't always the case. "What is on the cutting room floor is me charging at Hela and getting impaled and going ‘For Asgard.' No s#!t, I had my last line, my last words in the Marvel Universe were ‘For Asgard.’ Cutting room floor." Levi is clearly disappointed but hey, at least he'll be Shazam!

Despite that, The Warriors Three definitely deserved better and Marvel may now regret not making a star out of Levi. What do you guys think? As always, weigh in with your thoughts in the usual place.

Why would they cut that line out?

@DavidGray - From the sounds of it they wanted to save that line for Skurge in the climax. Having the same line with a similar delivery would have lessened the impact of later on. Maybe?

@TheManWithoutFear - Haven't seen the movie, but I imagine that makes sense, somewhat.

Still, sucks for a character that has been in the first 2 movies.

@TheManWithoutFear - I actually think it would’ve given Skurge’s sacrifice MORE impact. Him seeing a fellow Asgardian sacrifice himself in battle for the sake of his kingdom inspires him later on to do something similar, and he KNOWS he’s probably gonna die, but he does it anyway because it’s the noble thing to do. I feel like that could’ve brought more weight.

@TheManWithoutFear -

To be fair Skurge's sacrifice makes no sense in the movie version anyway - as the ship manages to flee even ignoring Skurge's distraction and we are shown Hela can throw long spears she can create anyway.

@Spock0Clock -

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

@Scarilian - Of course it does. The minions were about to kill innocent asgardians there in front of his eyes. Did you miss this detail?

BTW I wish the Warriors 3 were at least mentioned by Thor. A simple "you killed my friends!" line would do some good there IMO.

@Fogs - Hopefully Thor dies in Avengers 3 or 4 and sees them again.

And now he's Shazam, telling Marvel to go screw.

@MosquitoFarmer - "And now he's Shazam"
He's Shazam in the same way The Rock is Black Adam...

@Melkac - Oh I know. WB is strongly considering their funds right now. But he still has to play the confident card amidst this all.

@MosquitoFarmer - Yeah, because they've lost so much money . . . not! Thank God the U.S. doesn't actually rule the world as some Americans act like.

Saying “for Asgard” is lame. Him getting killed without a chance to even fight back was gut wrenching. Made Hela seem very powerful. I’m fine with this. Wonder what his last line as fangral was now

@JonesTheCat - Yes. I felt sorry for the characters but at the same time I was legit "holy shit, they're nothing to her!"

@JonesTheCat - I actually think it's "For Asgard" when he leaps from the ship on the rope in TDW lol

@Supercat6376 - exactly. He played fandral in the Thor movies. Not like he was going to be getting a solo film. What did he expect?

@CaptainBing - I though they were the same guy up until a few years ago.

@CaptainBing - there’s an episode of the Office where Jim pretends to be Chuck (Levi’s tV show character) to promote some iPad-like device at a launch. And everybody just buys it.
