Let's be honest here. Bay didn't like the VW bug because it wasn't stylish enough for him to show off.

Nostalgia in a nutshelll! Who else could pop up in G1 Form in this movie? Also I like to add that the joke in Transformers (2007) now makes more sense.

"Bay has made it clear he's not a fan of Bumblebee as a bug"
Who cares what Bay thinks? If he'd listen to the fans, he'd know the fans prefer the original look of the Transformers over that metal mess he calls Transformers. I hope there will be more iconic 80s versions in the movie.

@X75 - Even if he was not the director, another director would've still changed the vehicle forms and robots designs (after all every single iteration of Transformers, has had the transformers designs changed in some form and some had new forms)

@X75 - Dude.. ". It is the 10th highest-grossing film series, with a total of $4.2 billion; two films in the series have individually grossed over $1 billion."

who cares what Bay thinks? Sadly, the studio cutting the checks does! He's made them heaping piles of cash. .....now, do I like the movies? Lord no. the only Transformers movie that counts is the animated one in my book, but pretty sure the studio will differ to Mr. $4billion

What if this is just the start of telling the story of the original G1 Transformers? I would DEFINITELY be back on on board bringing back Spike, Buster, Sparkplug, Optimus in his original Mack truck form...

Always been a huge Transformers fan (the cartoons and the comics, even the toys), and I have to say Bumblebee is one of the characters I have never cared about. So many great and interesting characters, but IMO, Bumblebee isn't one of them.

@Asturgis - yeah i agree. i always thought Ultra Magnus and Hot Rod were more interesting.

@Asturgis - Agreed. He's the Iron Man of this Universe for sure.

@L0RDbuckethead - Depending on which show we're talking about, I'd say he's between Squirrel Girl and Gambit lol (childish or fakery stylish and overrated)

@Asturgis - Oh yeah, Bumblebee acts nothing like Stark/IM and I agree that he is childish.

I was just saying that Bumblebee in the Bayformers has been like Iron Man in the MCU. They never really were front and center main players until they were depicted that way in the films.

@L0RDbuckethead - You're absolutely right. Man, to see how incredible the VFX are in those Transformers movies and yet how terrible said movies are, I really, really wish the company who does the CGI in those movies would work with the DCU. Because no matter how successful or good or bad BvS, Suicide Squad or Wonder Woman were, the CGI in those movies was atrocious.

I think the biggest damage that Bay did and continues to do, is making superficial changes, hiring bad actors, rushing scripts and stories, omitting character development (my favorite thing about a good story), and showing that it can make a shite ton of money. Explosions, sex, and jokes. And now producers are saying, "Look, we were right, frick the art, this is all we need to sell movies!"

@somejackball - If the film is set in the 80's, they'd have to stick with the original Beetle. The new design didn't come out until the late 90's.

God I love that Camaro and having the VW next to it was perfect fan service. My son still has the 2 vehicle set we bought after the first movie which had that older Camaro and Barricade. Also my favorite scene out of any of the movies is still that first chase scene with Bumblebee and Barricade. Oh and my first car was a 1980 Camaro! lol

When the waiter gets your order wrong not once, or twice, but 5 [frick]ing times before showing up with the right plate, but by then, you've lost your appetite.
