Bay Wont Be Doing "Transformers 3"

Director Michael Bay has had enough of his trade mark explosions and seems set on finding critical acclaim.

When talking of directors the words "Michael Bay" sends shivers down the spines of some and encourages cheers from others. Love him or hate him you can't deny the guy knows how to blow stuff up!

Many of his movies may not have succeeded in gaining him critical acclaim and many have been given bad reviews for lack of substance. But one thing is for sure, one thing you can count on when watching a Michael Bay film is top notch action. He has given us some of the best visuals seen in theaters over the years. Armageddon, Bad Boys, Pearl Harbour and The Island may not have hit the spot in terms of movie making brilliance but they have all given us spectacular chases, explosions and fight sequences. But is all this about to change?

Bay has told Yahoo news that, if asked, he won't do another Transformers film. and goes on to say "I feel like I've had enough of the Transformers world...people have no idea how hard it is to create something like Transformers. They (the critics) review me before they've even seen the movie." He is clearly fed up with the stigma that has attached itself to his leg like a dog on heat and he is adamant on kicking said dog into the gutter.

He added.. "After the three and a half years I've spent making these movies, I feel like I've had enough of the Transformers world.

"I need to do something totally divergent, something without any explosions."

So what does this mean for the Transformers franchise? I predict that it will carry on. A new director will no doubt bring a new angle and fresh ideas to the table. But there is no doubt that Bay will leave some pretty impressive boots to fill.

And what of Bay's career? For many, Transformers became the jewel in his crown, and with the second looking set to topple the crown of Bay's achievement is it wise for him to leave now? He seems set on removing the one draw his movies have had in search for critical acclaim. It's a risky move and one you have to respect him for. It takes balls to turn your back on what you do well and aim for a new target. Will it pay off? Only time will tell.
