THE BOYS Gets An Awesome First Teaser Promo As STAR TREK Actor Simon Pegg Joins Cast

The first footage from Amazon's upcoming adaptation of The Boys just debuted at NYCC, and it should give fans a pretty good idea of what to expect from the show. Plus, Simon Pegg has joined the cast...

Following last week's comic-inspired key art, the first teaser promo for Amazon's adaptation of Garth Ennis' The Boys is now online, and it certainly sets the tone for the show.

The footage begins with Elizabeth Shue's character introducing Vought International and their portfolio of superheros, most of whom are parodies of some very recognizable DC icons. We then see footage of The Seven performing various heroic acts, before we cut to The Boys themselves giving the TV the finger.

It was also revealed at NYCC than Simon Pegg has joined the cast as Wee Hughie's father. Fans of the comic series will likely be aware that Pegg was actually the inspiration for Hughie's appearance, so it's cool that the Star Trek actor gets to be a part of the show in some capacity.

In a world where superheroes embrace the darker side of their massive celebrity and fame, The Boys centers on a group of vigilantes known informally as "the boys," who set out to take down corrupt superheroes with no more than blue collar grit and a willingness to fight dirty.

The Boys doesn't have a premiere date yet, but it will be with us at some point next year. The show hails from Supernatural creator and Timeless co-creator Eric Kripke, Preacher‘s Evan Goldberg and Seth Rogen, and Sony Pictures TV.
