THE BOYS Showrunner Shares Blood-Soaked First Photo From The Set Of Season 2 THE BOYS Showrunner Shares Blood-Soaked First Photo From The Set Of Season 2

The Boys showrunner Erike Kripke poses alongside the bloodied group of badass vigilantes — Frenchie, The Female, Hughie, and Mother's Milk — in what is the first pic from the set of Season 2 of the show.

If there was any question that The Boys would tone down the blood and gore in its sophomore season, series showrunner Eric Kripke ended that with the first photo of Season 2.

As a thank you to fans for making The Boys one of Amazon Prime's most watched Original series, Kripke posted the "world's first pic of [Season 2]."

"As you can see, we're up to our old tricks," Kripke wrote alongside the photo, which features himself in the middle surrounded by Tomer Capon as Frenchie, Karen Fukuhara as The Female, Jack Quaid as Hughie, Laz Alonso as Mother’s Milk. Of course, missing from the photo is Karl Urban‘s Billy Butcher.

Exactly what these "tricks" will be in Season 2 remains to be seen, but the last time we saw Hughie covered in this much blood was when he detonated the C4 that was stuck up the bum of Translucent. One can only imagine what caused this latest bloodfest.

Executive produced by Eric Kripke and Seth Rogen, The Boys is a dark and satirical take on the superhero genre, based on the comic book series of the same name. The series follows a group of vigilantes as they fight back against superheroes who abuse their powers.

Kripke previously said the success of Season 1 has inspired him to "work even harder on Season 2," adding that "I don’t want Season 2 to go bigger, I want it to go deeper. A more intense, more insane, more wrenching, more character-driven season. It’s my one and only goal to make Season 2 even better than Season 1."

Topping the first season will be no easy feat as The Boys currently sits at an 81 percent on Rotten Tomatoes with an audience score of 94 percent.

In a world where superheroes embrace the darker side of their massive celebrity and fame, The Boys centers on a group of vigilantes known informally as "the boys," who set out to take down corrupt superheroes with no more than blue collar grit and a willingness to fight dirty.

Season 1 of The Boys is currently streaming on Amazon Prime. Season 2, which was already ordered before the series premiered, doesn't yet have a release date, but clearly they are full speed ahead on filming.

@DeadWade213 - They started shooting this season weeks before the first one even debuted

Without the Compound V, they just gonna rely on Female and Starlight, or are they gonna stick a bomb up all the Supes' Assholes?

@Nightmare - I don't think they're above continuous rectal bombing

Have them TAKE THE [frick]ING COMPOUND V

@BlackBeltJones - Yeah, but then it's just a supes vs supes show. I liked how it was all normal joes against these god-like figures, really added to the intensity of scenes like A-Train being at Hughie's house

@BlackBeltJones - They really need to amp it up another two notches or the finale is going to be disappointing.

@Reeds2Much @BlackBeltJones - Looks like they are toning it way down for the show. Doubt most of the insane and outlandish stuff from the comics is going to happen on the show.

They already completely changed the origins and backgrounds of the main cast of the comic. Meaning in the show there are certain things that just can't happen as it did in the comic.

Still the show is still hilarious despite the drama and darkness.

@tmp3 - I doubt that any of the boys use compund V in the show. They've already established that it really [frick]s up adults, plus they have the female who's basically superpowered.

And I agree that the scene at the house was tense as hell.

@Comicbookart

Without their powers, they lose their original angst of being super-powered humans who hunt down superheroes for the government. I liked the even playing field in some regards.

There’s a different kind of intensity for sure with them being powerless, and giving them the serum does sort of negate the idea that they are these everymen representing regular humanity in the face of elite god-like beings.

Great first season can't wait for the second.

I like most of the changes and they toned down the juvenile humor and shock vale of the comics.

Loved this show.

OT: Can't believe Universal pulled The Hunt, looked like jolly good fun.

@BeyondtheFuture - The Hunt looked good... Universal are a bunch of dumb-asses, I can see why they green-lit CATS and a $200m Dr. Dolittle film now, since they're full of bad ideas

@tmp3 - I know! Out of all of them it really should have been Cats that was cancelled. I hope The Hunt gets a later release or goes to streaming. Maybe just quietly drop it on Netflix or something. I don't see why we can't still have an international release, sigh. Also I don't know wtf they were thinking with Dr. Dolittle.
