The first teaser for Amazon Prime's The Boys adaptation is now online, and it should give fans a pretty good idea of what to expect from the series.

It's not so much a standard trailer as a random series of shots, but it does feature glimpses of Billy Butcher (Karl Urban), "Wee" Hughie Campbell (Jack Quaid), The Female (Karen Fukuhara), The Frenchman (Tomer Kapon) and Mother's Milk (Laz Alonzo) kicking the crap out of members of the "superhero" organization known as The Seven.

It's not particularly gratuitous (the show itself almost certainly will be, however), but there are some quick glimpses of sex and violence, as well as a bit of bad language. Check out the vid below and let us know what you think in the comments.

In a world where superheroes embrace the darker side of their massive celebrity and fame, The Boys centers on a group of vigilantes known informally as "the boys," who set out to take down corrupt superheroes with no more than blue collar grit and a willingness to fight dirty.

The Boys doesn't have a premiere date yet, but it will be with us at some point this year. The show hails from Supernatural creator and Timeless co-creator Eric Kripke, Preacher‘s Evan Goldberg and Seth Rogen, and Sony Pictures TV.

Really can't wait for this one, one of my favorite series ever

@NateBest What's with the video ad in every page, man? That's so annoying I wonder if you guys' intention is to lose traffic.

@Fogs - Agreed. It's a total nuisance on my phone because I can't figure out a way to close it. I abhor websites with autoplay ads and this is a deal-breaker for me here.

@Fogs - Download the AdGuard app - best thing I ever did (I’ve got an iPhone). Blocks every ad on the site, they just don’t show up. (No, this is not a paid ad 😜) I was reluctant, but did it after about 8 years of coming here - should have done it sooner 🤦🏻‍♂️

@Fogs - couple days now, it's terrible @natebest

@Fogs, @TyrantBossMedia - I had the video ads turned off for users who were logged in for the last little while during some tests. I recently turned them back on to test out their new player (I liked it better than the old one because it doesn't sit at the top of the page).

Keep the feedback coming as I'll be speaking with the advertisers about it next week.

Also note that an ad-free version of the site will be launching in the coming months.

@Tasmaniac - I have a sincere question for you. How would you like me to come hang out for the weekend at your place... Eat your food, dirty your dishes, order some Pay-per-view, and then leave without paying for any of it? You realize you're doing pretty much the same thing, right?

You can justify it however you like, but web sites, especially ones as big as CBM, aren't cheap to create, much less maintain and keep running.

@TyrantBossMedia - That's the same conversation I'm having with the advertisers right now :)

Believe it or not, I use the site as well and I HATE ads :P

@NateBest - Its not even close to the same thing.

A home is private property closed off to the public unless invited to enter.

This site is open to the public by the owners choice. If you don't want to maintain the site for what it costs, then shut it down.

Nobody forcing you to keep it running. The owner is footing the bill of his own choice, you can't dump the responsibility of that choice on others.

@billnye69 - Bit of jerk response fella ads help with maintaining and improving the site. Was Nate's response the nicest? No, but you're being a straight up jerk.

@NateBest - Keep the ads up if they help keep your head above water on the cost of the site. I honestly didn't even notice the video until I finished reading the article.

@billnye69 - Lol! Not even close? How about you describe it to me then? I love hearing people's justifications for doing what they do ;)

@NateBest - I don’t have any problem with ads here and there, and certainly don’t begrudge you making money at all - as I said, I had been coming here for a years before the blocker and I don’t use one on my PC. In fact the latest pop up video ad comes through and I hadn’t even noticed or cared. And Hell, I’ve bought plenty of gear from SuperHero Stuff thanks to their ad here. But, like @fogs @dotanuki etc, I reached the point where I couldn’t even load the site properly on my phone and the ads were even opening new windows on me, so I actually started visiting less because of them. I did report a few ads to you and, to your credit, you did respond and try to get them sorted. But the sheer volume of them was overloading the mobile page & destroying the experience.

BTW, I’m Australian and you seem like a good bloke, so you are more than welcome to come to my place for beers and a feed. My shout 👍🏻

@NateBest - yeah, I don't care for ads if they're not annoying. Feedback and tuning the site is where it's at.

@billnye69 - actually it's worse than nate's example. It's like enjoying a privately owned business (open to the public, huh?) and not paying (not even directly here) for what you had.
billnye69
billnye69 - 1/25/2019, 7:27 AM
@NateBest - I already explained it in my post. It's your choice to foot the bill to run a website, own that choice or shut the place down. It's that simple.
billnye69
billnye69 - 1/25/2019, 7:39 AM
@Fogs - Actually his example was basically a house party. Lot of people come in eat all your food, dirty your dishes, ruin the bathroom. You throw a house party those are the consequences, you can't blame your guess for your decision to throw a house party.

@Tasmaniac - Haha! I'll have to hit you up if I'm every out your way :)

I feel your pain on the hijacking ads. They come through in waves and are VERY frustrating. How they ever get through Google's approval process is beyond me... I'm assuming they get a different ad approved and add the redirect code after. Unfortunately those ones are a web-wide phenomenon that everyone is battling :@
NateBest
NateBest - 1/25/2019, 3:18 PM
@billnye69 - While it IS open to the public, it IS also business. @Fogs actually provided a much better example. It would be like coming into my restaurant, ordering a meal and then skipping on the bill ;)

And you're right; Because it is MY site, I can do what I wish with it. Close it down. Restrict certain users. Turn off all the ads. It's an ongoing battle between keeping users happy, keeping contributors happy and generating content, and covering the bills.

The fact is that ads are a necessary evil. They're also what's driven the web to constantly evolve and grow to where it is today. I feel that CBM does a good job in balancing it all by not having auto-audio or annoying pop-ups.
billnye69
billnye69 - 1/25/2019, 7:33 PM
@NateBest - I do agree with you about ads being a necessary evil of the web, which is why I don't run ad blockers.

And don't get me wrong, you have done a good job non intrusive ads.

Another vomit inducing Garth Ennis adaptation that will obviously have to be toned down because his work is too sadistic.

Eh. I don't like Preacher all that much. I'm not sure if Seth Rogen needs to become a go-to guy to adapt comics to television. He's starting to be like JJ Abrams in general where they slap his name on a project to draw attention to it but it's not exactly like he's some visionary consultant or something.
