It seems that Invincible movie from Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg is no more, as reports are coming in that Robert Kirkman will adapt his own comic series as an hour-long, adult-orientated animated series.

Around this time last year, news broke that Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg (Preacher) were set to write, direct, and produce a live-action movie based on Robert Kirkman's Image comic series Invincible, but it doesn't look like that's going to happen now.

Instead, Kirkman himself will produce an hour-long animated series for Amazon, which has Simon Racioppa (Teen Titans) on board as showrunner.

Like the comics, the eight-episode "adult animated" series will focus on Mark Grayson, a normal teenager in every way aside from the fact that his father is the most powerful superhero on the planet.

UPDATE: It seems that Invincible live-action feature is still in development at Universal despite this series also moving forward.

Why is Seth Rogen always involved in adapting these amazing creator-owned comics?

Of all the people in the world.....

@MaximusTheMad - Is that a negative for you or surprise? I haven't finished the first season of Preacher, but it was surprisingly solid imo.

@MaximusTheMad - I think he’s probably just a comic enthusiast that made enough money to get projects he’s wanted to see off the ground. That’s what I’d do if I had his money

@knocturnalzen10 - The ending was lackluster to me. The series overall was great. Conquest was and still is one of my favorite villains.

I've read the first issue of Invincibles and thought it was ok. My coworker says it gets better further in so I'll have to pick it back up shortly. Also on issue 5 of Invisibles. That also another crazy one I would recommend to people.

Love the comic. Glad its a show over a movie.

@BlackBeltJones - I'm glad it's animated too, no way in hell they would've done it justice live action.

Despite having a pretty weak conclusion, 'Invincible' is hands down the greatest comic book, start to finish, that I have ever read.

Very happy to see the film is still in development, but this animated show is bound to stick much closer to the source material.

@MarvelDCAllDay - (spoilers if anyone hasn't read the comic) I actually hadn't heard about the movie until this article. I'd really love it if the first movie ends immediately after the Invincible vs Omni-Man fight. Kind of a bittersweet ending deal.

I’m always confusing this and Mark Millar’s “Superior” for some reason

Man I’ve been waiting for this for so long! I wanted either a cartoon (true to the comic) or a movie. I’m not gonna lie, I want the cartoon more, because I don’t know how they’ll adapt this into a feature film. It’s a lot of blood and violence, and if they have to water it down, I wouldn’t want it to be a movie.

For God's sake don't let Seth Rogen near any superhero movie

If Invincible by Skillet isn’t part of the soundtrack for either the movie or the tv show, I’ll certianly be disappointed

This would work in a animated form, I just hope it's as brutal as the comic book.

If this came out tomorrow it wouldn't be soon enough. Invincible is just as it proclaims, the best super hero comic. I can't wait for this, I just hope it doesn't stray much from the comic (like my hero academia)
