Lauren Cohan's THE WALKING DEAD Future Remains In Doubt As The Actress Continues Shooting New Pilot Lauren Cohan's THE WALKING DEAD Future Remains In Doubt As The Actress Continues Shooting New Pilot

It appears as if Lauren Cohan is no closer to signing a new deal to return to The Walking Dead as her commitments to a new ABC pilot resulted in her missing a fan event this weekend as shooting continues.

It's been quite some time since we first told you about Lauren Cohan's battle with AMC to secure a pay rise which would put her on the same level as her The Walking Dead co-stars Andrew Lincoln and Norman Reedus and it's now clear that she's no closer to reaching a deal with the cable network.

Deadline notes that her fight for a pay increase - which has been supported by co-star Khary Payton (Ezekiel) after he posted a message on Instagram saying "Pay the woman" - is still very much ongoing and Cohan's commitments to ABC pilot Whiskey Cavalier resulted in her missing the Walker Stalker convention in London this weekend. That was reportedly due to a change in her schedule but you have to also imagine that she probably wanted to avoid questions about her future with the show.

As things currently stand, we have no idea whether or not Cohan will end up being part of The Walking Dead's ninth season but considering the fact her departure would hurt the show in a big way, it's hard to imagine AMC not coming to some sort of agreement with her sooner rather than later. Then again, if her new pilot takes off, it could be that Cohan decides that her future is now brighter elsewhere.

Pay the woman.

This show use to infuriate me to no end sometimes. The walkers shouldn’t be able to do sneak attacks.

If you ask me, they should all jump ship. How about Rosita as Angela del Toro / White Tiger?

(Actually, it looks like Marvel TV and Netflix aren't going to be doing any more expansion anytime soon, but there's eventually going to be a place for the more adulty Marvel stuff to land, whether its Hulu or whatever.)

@Spock0Clock - They should hang on to Netflix. Not like they'd do it on the Disney streaming service.

@Kevwebsz - They probably should, but there are some definite structural flaws with the Netflix arrangement. It may be on Marvel's side (with Ike Pennypincher keeping the costs low) or even just filming in New York driving the costs beyond what you see on screen, but the lightning just isn't staying in the bottle at Netflix.

These shows aren't going anywhere anytime soon, but if Marvel is looking to boot up a new hard-boiled magic kung fu detective series like White Tiger, it might be better to do it somewhere else. Or backdoor pilot her in an Iron Fist series or something. (Honestly, I'm already gagging for a Daughters of the Dragon series anyway, so whatever needs to happen to make that work, I'm for it.)

@Spock0Clock - "How about Rosita as Angela del Toro / White Tiger?"

That was supposed to be the direction Claire Temple's character was going, not sure about it now. It looked like she was going the "Night Nurse" way, but there were quite a few clues showing she was gonna become White Tiger, both Claire and Angela have a brother in prison, the fact that she took the claws from Colleen after she trained her, and also Jessica refers Luke to another PI, Angela del Toro, in JJ season 1. Both half Puerto Rican and half Cuban, stuff like that. At least Angela exists in this universe, and the claws would indicate that she could be going in that direction, even though she was inspired by Night Nurse.

If it werent for the fact that she played Martha Wayne, she would make a great Kate Kane

If she is being treated like this, i wouldnt blame her for leaving, she has been waisted the last few seasons anyway

@dracula -
Her being wasted in the last few seasons is probably why she has not been given a raise, they have no clue what to do with her character and most fans became disinterested in her after Glenn and her romance plot-line went away.

She has a reasonable number of episodes under her belt - but is still 14 episodes beneath Reedus and 22 episodes beneath Andrew. At the same time, her character has less appeal than Andrew Lincoln and Norman Reedus. It's an odd situation - especially considering a majority of her 'episodes' were minor cameos were she did nothing integral to the plot. I suppose Reedus applies to that also, but his fanbase is part of what is keeping the show afloat.

Sad they failed translating both Andrea and Maggie to the television series, her role should be expanding from this point forward especially since alexandria and kingdom both fell, and with the post-negan fallout.

@aflynn - Andrea is my favorite character in the comic. Or she was. I can't believe they just signed her off at the end of season 3. Such a strong character. Also, her relationship with Rick, how Carl called her mom, how badass she was. A lot less shoehorned than Rick's relationship with Michonne.

@Asturgis - One of my favorite female comic heroes ever, they butchered her, and gave all her storylines to other characters on the show.

Use to be a big fan of TWD now I am way behind and don't care. I just call this show stupid people doing stupid things. I've meet many of the cast and they are all awesome but yeah I don't see this show lasting much longer.

It’s funny that a show called “The Walking Dead” is pretty much now a “dead” show.

Since we're doing fan casting, when Disney/Fox deal is 100% done-Cast Lauren Cohan as Invisible Woman....and Chandler Riggs as The Human Torch??

Yea, this show is dead. Each episode is just bla bla bla talk talk talk the one or two walker attacks... Killing Carl off when he had some nice future story arcs in the comics... oh well.
