It sounds like we haven't seen the last of Roy Harper in Arrow, but actor Colton Haynes has revealed he will not be a series regular in the show's eight and final season.

Responding to fans on Twitter, Haynes confirmed that the studio did not ask him to return as a series regular, but also added that his character, Roy, is "never gone for too long."

“Getting a lot of angry messages so just to clarify…I didn’t exit the last season of Arrow,” he tweeted. “I was not asked to come back for the final season as a series regular. But y’all know Roy…he’s never gone for too long.”

Exactly what this means for his character as we prepare for the show's final season is unclear; however, series EP Beth Schwartz previously commented on Haynes' return at the Television Critics Association tour. "We hope to have him back," Schwartz said. "We love him and he’s obviously one of the foundations of the show.”

Haynes made recurring guests appearances throughout the fourth, fifth, and sixth seasons of Arrow, but returned in full-time capacity for season seven. But even then, he appeared in less than half of the season's 22 episodes in a flash-forward storyline that ultimately hasn't been resolved. Hopefully fans get some sort of closure in the final season.

Arrow will return to The CW for a 10-episode final run for Season 8.

I wonder why WB never considered combining the Titans & Doom Patrol with the CW during this Crisis event to get people hooked on Titans and DP to boost subscriptions for their streaming service.

The role of Roy Harper from the comics has already been filled by John Diggle. That's why Roy Harper has always been pushed to the side on the shows.

Same with Wally West on The Flash.

This show can't die go out without giving us our dose of #RoyFlips!

I have always liked Roy in the show, he didn't have that much to do during his stay, but his character was likable and fun.

Is Thea coming back for this last season?

His tweet makes me hopeful that he has been informed of whatever plans they have for him in any of the final 10 episodes and also in Crisis. He must be in Crisis IMO. that event is just unmissable.

I hope there is more of Roy down the future of the Arrowverse post-Crisis. There is always a spot in Legends or in Batwoman if they want to keep him in a grounded show.

I want to see Thea and Helena make a return, more so Thea because she played a big part in the world of Arrow and seeing as this is the last season having more people return to the show should be a must.

He was in quite a bit this season, so don’t get greedy. He could always cameo in one episode.

@Davidthegreat22 - Don't think it's about being greedy, he was an OG. Tommy and even Adrian is coming back, I think he deserves more imo.

Roy should have had a robotic arm in the flasfoward scenes. It would have been cool to know that he loses it somewhere inbetween, even if we'd never get to see how.
