GREEN ARROW AND THE CANARIES Backdoor Pilot Synopsis Reveals New Details About The ARROW Spinoff

Arrow may be nearing its end, but a new spinoff series revolving around Oliver Queen's daughter and the Arroweverse's Canaries is in the works. Now, we have plot details for the upcoming backdoor pilot...

Arrow looks set to reach its end on The CW after the current eighth season but we're starting to get a better idea of what the network has planned for the upcoming spinoff series, Green Arrow and the Canaries, which stars Katherine McNamara, Katie Cassidy and Juliana Harkavy.

Just like The Flash's backdoor episode aired as part of Arrow's run, so too will the one for this show (also titled "Green Arrow and the Canaries").

According to the officially released synopsis, "It’s the year 2040 in Star City and Mia Queen (McNamara) has everything she could have ever wanted. However, when Laurel (Cassidy) and Dinah (Harkavy) suddenly show up in her life again, things take a shocking turn and her perfect world is upended."

"Laurel and Dinah are tracking a kidnapping victim with direct ties to Mia and they need her help," it continues. "Knowing it will change everything, Mia can’t help but be a hero and she, Laurel and Dinah suit up once again to save the city."

The episode airs on January 21st and is directed by Tara Miele from a script by Arrow showrunner Beth Schwartz and co-creator/executive producer Marc Guggenheim, executive producer Jill Blankenship and co-executive producer Oscar Balderrama. Plans for a spinoff series were first announced last August, and it will be interesting to see whether things move forward from here.

Another mediocre show on CW ... yay

I am choosing to approach this pilot with a more open minded so with that said the back door pilot of it (but if I'm being honest it should be it's own thing instead of taking up the penultimate episode of Oliver's story) sounds decent.

Seems the future of Star City might actually be a bright one post Crisis after they defeat the anti-Monitor.

As long as they focus on telling good stories and doing anything that they couldn't do or didn't find the time to do it in Arrow here then I think it'll be good. For example I'd love to see them finally do Onomatopoeia as a villain in this show.

@RageDriver2401 - Lmao just because it wasn’t originally created from comics doesn’t mean it’s not CB related. There have been plenty of characters who started on tv and then had a huge following, adding them to the comics. Harley Quinn being a prime example.
