Will ARROW Season 7 Adapt Warner Bros.' Scrapped GREEN ARROW: SUPERMAX Movie?

Will ARROW Season 7 Adapt Warner Bros.' Scrapped GREEN ARROW: SUPERMAX Movie? Will ARROW Season 7 Adapt Warner Bros.' Scrapped GREEN ARROW: SUPERMAX Movie?

Once upon a time, Warner Bros. was developing a Supermax movie which would have featured Green Arrow attempting to escape from a prison full of DC supervillains. Now, it looks like Arrow could adapt that!

Long before the DC Extended Universe became a thing, Warner Bros. was looking at developing a movie titled Supermax which would have revolved around an imprisoned Oliver Queen. Over the course of the R-Rated adventure, Green Arrow would have crossed paths with villains like The Joker and Lex Luthor but it never came together and has obviously vanished off the studio's radar since.

Will Arrow season seven borrow elements from that, though? At the end of season six, Oliver was arrested for years of utilising lethal force as the Green Arrow and producer Marc Guggenheim has now confirmed that the hero is heading to the fictional Slabside Supermax prison. That's obviously going to change his status quo in a big way and could point to us getting a different version of Supermax.

While it's unlikely The CW series will be able to utilise big name villains from the comic books, it seems like the first part of season seven will revolve around the vigilante's time behind bars which makes it the closest thing to Supermax we'll probably ever see. More details about what's to come are expected to be revealed at Comic-Con next weekend so be sure to stay tuned to CBM for further updates.

A superhero movie set entirely in prison has always been a cool idea

@noahthegrand - Agreed, especially if that hero is non-superpowered political hero. It's just...interesting.

@noahthegrand - Agreed! I wish DC could get their shit together and give us the Arkham film we deserve.

I dig it. Now spend the majority of the season in that prison to make it refreshing and I might tune in just for this season lol.

Wasn't that kinda obvious?

I didn't watch any of the CW shows the past season. This has my attention now. Maybe I'll get back into it

@Antoin - Arrow was very hit or miss this season, though the final few episodes were decent.

They messed up that visitor's card. Look at the expiration date. June only has 30 days.

Too bad this show is CW rediculous.

Hope they don't bust him out too quickly...but then I start to think that they might be tempted to they'd be to let Felicity dominate the show while he's locked up.

I still think all these CW shows should be clipped to 10-13 episodes. Way too much filler. So much so that I've just about lost interest in all of them. Never could get into Supergirl or Black Lightning.

@Philvis - Supergirl is the one I have on in the background when I'm doing other things. I only look up when something interesting happens and dont really miss much.

Hopefully they wont f*ck up like they did with flashpoint, and do it over several episodes

It's still weird that the FBI would ignore everything that Oliver's friends have done. Felicity is a cyberterrorist which is a more punishable crime than most everything else from what I've seen, Diggle & Wild Dog use GUNS and have thereby killed tons more people than Oliver plus Diggle was part of the underworld drug trade when he bought his stuff from Diaz. Oh yeah, and considering Oliver confessed he was the Green Arrow, this means that his entire team is guilty of perjury. Oliver is clearly the least criminal of his team.

Also, there's still a thing as double jeopardy. So even if he confessed, which could be seen as a forced confession (which isn't admissible in a court of law), I don't think he could go to jail for something he was already cleared of doing. And why the highest security prison? He's not a mass murderer or a sociopath and he hadn't even killed anyone in a really long time.

@GAThrawnIGF - Pretty sure Ollie worked a deal with the FBI to clear his friends if he turned himself in.

Stephen Amell denied last week that Oliver would spend 3 episodes inside the prison so for now that is all we know.

I hope this Season delivers just like 1, 2 and 5 did.

Hopefully this storyline won't be wasted like Flashpoint and only last a coupe (or one) episode.

Sounds like it.

Sucks that it's being done by the CW though. All of the interesting and cool villains that could've been in that original film script will be replaced with shitty actors playing Q to E list characters.

2 things I could see happening:
1) We get Oliver in prison for X amount of episodes this season
or
2) Flashbacks return and we have a time jump to when Ollie is released from prison. Flashbacks focus on his time in prison and mirror what goes on in present day like the first 2 seasons on Lian Yu
