Brooklyn Nine-Nine's Stephanie Beatriz has previously expressed interest in taking on the title role in She-Hulk, but following Ruby Rose's Batwoman departure, she may be more interested in the Arrowverse.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine star Stephanie Beatriz has expressed interest in a number of superhero roles, including She-Hulk and Miss America Chavez. However, it now seems as if she's keen to take over the role of Kate Kane in the Arrowverse after Ruby Rose announced her Batwoman departure.

That came as a shock to fans as Rose only played the Caped Crusader for a single season, and presumably even shot content for some of the unfinished episodes which didn't air due to COVID-19.

As you can see, Beatriz took to Twitter last night to tease plans to research the DC Comics character, and it's fair to say that fans would be on board with her taking over from Rose. After all, her name frequently comes up for various superhero characters, and it's not hard to picture Beatriz suited up as Batwoman.

The only real problem here is that she's tied to Brooklyn Nine-Nine, so it's hard to imagine how she would ever have time to shoot both, especially as Batwoman is a 22-episode commitment.

Still, with The CW looking for a LGBTQ actress (Beatriz is openly bisexual), it's hard to imagine her name not coming up at some point. For now, we'll just have to wait and see what the network has planned.

What do you guys think?

Would be an extreme case of fraternal twins then.

Isn’t Kate...Jewish?

I like Beatriz but she does this every time a cbm role owns up. Like a “pick me pick me” thing.

@TheJustinHammer - I can help

@BlackBeltJones - Ruby Rose wasn't Jewish. Neither was Fassbender, and he played the most ostensibly jewish on-screen comic character so far. Hollywood doesn't really care about it outside of extreme cases.

I really dislike the implication that a straight actor cannot play gay any more. My thought is that they should hire the best actor for the role, not just the best gay actor.

@pclark - I agree but that's not the way the industry works anymore. Its the times we live in...

@pclark - Straight actors are still very much hired to play gay characters tho so I'm not sure where this is coming from...

@WakandanQueen - the fact that LGBTQ was a requirement.

@WakandanQueen - The three biggest gay films this century starred Heath Ledger, Trevonte Rhodes and Timothee Chalamet; all straight dudes. This Batwoman casting requirement is a very rare case, no doubt in part due to Berlanti himself being a prolific gay producer.

@tmp3 - The lead in Love Simon is also straight and Berlanti was involved with that.

@tripttwe - This happens very rarely, almost never.

@WakandanQueen - gotta start somewhere. If the requirement was non LGBTQ, I'm sure you'd see a difference in the outcome.

@tripttwe - I don't think we'll ever get quite to that place. Unless the character is LGBTQ when it comes to their gender, which then yes, the casting should match the character.

@WakandanQueen - how can you match sexual orientation??? Proof? What if she's bluffing for the role? And even if she isn't, does that really need to be a named prerequisite? Does she need to have black belts in 3 different martial arts? That'd make more sense to me for a role of a Superhero. Is Batwoman more than her intimate encounters? Could Batwoman's be told without it being mentioned?

@tripttwe - Huh? I said the actor's gender identity should match the gender identity of the character...

@WakandanQueen - lol ok.

She would be great! She's great on B99, checks off the boxes the CW listed yesterday. With regards to B99, I'm surely not a showrunner or tv head, but I would imagine that a 13 episode comedy season of 20 minute episodes wouldn't prohibit her from Batwoman.
