While it won't be as closely tied to the Arrowverse as Supergirl, The CW is adding yet another superhero show to its roster next January with the launch of Black Lightning. It's an unexpected route for the network to head down but you can't fault them for wanting to bring some more diversity to this world and it appears as if this show will be a little more adult in nature based on what we've seen.

Now, a new batch of stills have been released and you can check them out in the gallery down below.

"Jefferson Pierce made his choice," reads the synopsis. "He hung up the suit and his secret identity years ago, but with one daughter hell-bent on justice and the other a star student being recruited by a local gang, he’ll be pulled back into the fight as the wanted vigilante and DC legend Black Lightning." It's an unusual choice of character but the signs are pointing to the series being good.

Costume looks terrible, but i am intrigued.

@InfiniteCipher - At least he has a costume. All of the X-Men had street clothes for the entire franchise to this point, same with Scarlet Witch and Hawkeye. But of course it's Marvel, who can do no wrong...

And it's still a better costume than what Nightwing originally wore in the books. Yikes!

Earth Thirty Eight: With Supergirl, since in the comics Black Lightning is set in Metropolis.

@dracula - I thought it was supposed to be completely unconnected? As in not a part of the DC-CW universe? Granted that can easily change and it could be brought into it through a crossover later on, but it has been reported so far it is its own separate thing (despite Josh’s claim in article).

Since Black Lightning doesnt have a big Rogues Gallery or supporting cast, in season 1 they should introduce the Milestone Comic characters as regular people. then end the season with the big bang.
Static: Start Virgil off as a smart kid who lacks direction, and a possible love interest for Jefferson's daughter then after he get his powers have him try being a hero on his own for a few episodes before Jefferson takes him under his wing in the second season.
Icon: Give him a role similar to Jonn in Supergirl.
Rocket: Start her off as a member of Blood Syndicate before she starts working with Icon.
Hardware: Have him fill Ritchies roles as Virgil's best friend.
Blood Synicate: Like in the Dark Knight returns with the mutants. After Tobias Whales is defeated, the 100 is splintered, and have some of them become Blood Synicate
