Why has no one ever asked this: is there a point to Gotham without Batman?

So Penguin is in love with the Riddler?

Making Penguin gay, was ironically a pretty gay move. Gotham needs to stop that subplot soon.

How I felt when I saw the Pengayin:

@tripttwe - Mistake me if I'm wrong, but when has Penguin's sexuality ever been important or even mentioned in the comics? I'm not gay, but what's wrong with him being gay? As someone who watches the series every week, it didn't feel forced nor shoehorned to me. It felt very natural to his character's story arc. Please, enlighten me as in why you felt this sense of homophobia.

@spidey212926 - you are wrong. It hasn't been important or mentioned as far as I know. That's one reason why it was unneccessary. I don't like cotton candy in my grits. That doesn't make me a "cotton candy phobe", it means I know what I like. I didn't want the Penguin to be gay, for the same reason you stated. He is a character that was not written in a homosexual manner - EVER, and I feel like it was pandering to throw it in this show now. It's time to start creating new characters as writers desire them to be portrayed, instead of throwing in bs for the sake of public relations. Lex Luthor, Joker, not my ideal character personifications on screen. Sexual preference aside. Now, if you will allow me, I'd like to continue unbothered with my [frick]ing opinion, aka- My two cents...

Saw the Penguin being Gay since day one. If your going to cast a gay man in a role, chances of that character being Gay are pretty high. On top of that other than Alfred, Penguin has showed 0 interest in woman other than his mother

This show is awesome.
True the Penguin loving the Riddler is a weird/risky angle - but not too unbelievable. Dude has always represented the opposite of Bruce wayne, an unloved child from a wealthy family and no matter how much money n power he accumulates he never finds love. So not a far stretch that the first time he experiences someone caring for him he things he loves him, and would not matter if male or female to someone that deprived.

But I have faith in this show's continued success in building incredible stories of how the villains came to be. The Mad Hatter was dope. The pieces are in place for Penguin to be heartbroken yet again, and ultimately further developing into the Penguin we all know.

Also, didn't last episode have that whole Batman video game appeal - with the phone ringing in the streets like a side mission in Arkham City to the multiple TVs with the Hatter on it in the precinct. Show is sooo good.

Why a show without Batman? Because Batman has the best rogues in comic history... period. This is basically a show about Gordon encountering Batman's rogues.

I'm glad they made Penguin gay just so I can see the pissed off reactions of the fanboys
