After a lengthy buildup, Krypton kickstarted its freshman season tonight with a pretty promising premiere as we were introduced to Superman's grandfather Seg-El (Cameron Cuffe) and his home planet - you know, long before it went kaboom.

Next week's episode continues the action-packed ride as Seg is forced to adjust to an unfamiliar new lifestyle, a new rank, and the impending threat of Brainiac (Blake Ritson), who is hellbent on destroying Krypton and keeping the Man of Steel from ever being born.

Watch the promo for episode two, titled "House of El," below:

#1.2 “House of El” (March 28)

Description: After suffering a tragedy, Seg is forced to adjust to a new life, a new rank and a new threat.

Set two generations before Superman ever heads to Earth, Krypton follows Kal-El’s grandfather (played by Cameron Cuffe) — whose House of El was ostracized and shamed — as he fights to redeem his family’s honor and save his beloved world from chaos. The series comes from producers David Goyer (the Dark Knight trilogy) and Damian Kindler (Sleepy Hollow). Along with Cuffe, the show stars Georgina Campbell (Broadchurch), Elliot Cowan (Da Vinci’s Demons), Ann Ogbomo (World War Z), Rasmus Hardiker (Your Highness), Wallis Day (Will), Aaron Pierre (Tennison) and Ian McElhinney (Game of Thrones).

Krypton features:
Cameron Cuffe as Seg-El
Georgina Campbell as Lyta Zod
Shaun Sipos as Adam Strange
Ann Ogbomo as Jayna-Zod
Aaron Pierre as Dev-Em
Wallis Day as Nyssa-Vex
Ian McElhinney as Val-El
Blake Ritson as Brainiac

Krypton returns with an all-new episode on March 28

It was aite. The lead actor playing Seg-El is hammy as hell. He's the weakest part for sure. The world looks cool so far.

So far, it seems the consensus from viewers is that it's fine. Hopefully it gets better because I would love to see more of this Brainiac. His design is great, and I feel he could be a great villain on a T.V. format.

Brainiac seems to be all this show has to offer, huh?

The dialogue was hot garbage but concept and execution was solid.

Is Adam Strange in the pilot? Him and Brainiac are my only interests in this

This is definitely a show I'll watch. I normally give a show until the mid-season finale before I give up, but this is definitely a step in the right direction. The time travel aspect is what got me interested, so I'll see where it goes. From the looks of it however, Krypton seems to want to be the Game of Thrones of DCTV minus the gratuitous sex. Violence on the other hand is plenty.

Agree with the others that Seg was by far the worst part. His acting reminded me of the hammy old Goblins movies

Just watched it. Was pretty decent. SYFY looks like they put a lil money into this show. Everything looked great. To me Seg wasn’t as bad a people are saying. I’ll give it another watch next week

For a series premiere,It was a good start.First episodes are suppose to be world building snd this did a pretty good job doing so.I am optimistic that it is only going to get better.Syfy somtimes gets a bad wrap, but when it comes to there sci-fi original series, they more times than not deliver.Battlestar Galactica,Killjoys,Z Nation and Dark Matter are just a few examples of what they can do.

The plot sounds like something better suited for a mini-series. What's the plan? Draw out this Brainiac time travel thing for a few seasons or introduce a new time travel threat each season? I can't see the long term for it without it becoming ridiculous.

@bs77 - Or they drop the time travel storyline at the end of the season and focus on the rise of Krypton towards the skies. War with the Thanagarians, Green Lanterns, scientific horrors like the first versions of Doomsday. Krypton was a pretty [frick] up place, lots of storys can be told.
