SyFy has finally debuted some footage from the second season of Krypton via the promo below, and while it's a little on the short side, we do get some teasing glimpses of the threats Granddaddy of Steel Seg-El (Cameron Cuffe) is going to be facing when the Superman prequel series returns to our screens.

There are shots of Zod, Brainiac, and a rampaging Doomsday, who is still on the loose after escaping in season 1.There's no sign of Emmet J. Scanlan as Lobo, unfortunately, but then they're probably saving our first look at the Main Man in action for a full trailer.

What if Superman never existed? Set two generations before the destruction of Superman’s home planet, “Krypton” follows Seg-El (Cameron Cuffe), the legendary Man of Steel’s grandfather, as a young man who fights to save his home planet from destruction. Season 2 brings us back to a changed Kandor, locked in a battle over its freedom and its future. General Dru-Zod (Colin Salmon) is now in control. He’s on a ruthless mission to rebuild Krypton according to his ideals and to secure its future by conquering the universe. Faced with a bleak outlook, our hero, Seg-El, attempts to unite a dispersed group of resisters in an effort to defeat Zod and restore hope to their beloved planet. Their chance at redemption is threatened however, by their opposing tactics, shifting alliances and conflicting moral boundaries – forcing each of them to individually determine how far they’re willing to go in pursuit of a better tomorrow.

Krypton season 2 still doesn't have an exact premiere date.

I was pleasantly surprised how great the first season was and it will be interesting to see how season two will stack next to the first.

I also would have no complaints if OA got a tv series too. The history of the Maltusians is rich and would be the perfect prequel series to explore.

Excellent! I was hoping to see Lobo though

I liked the first season a fair bit, but I'm finding it hard to be excited about more of the series. It's the same "dance around Superman" that Gotham does with Batman, and I find myself wanting more of a traditional superhero show.

If they won't do Superman on TV, that's fine, but why not Booster Gold? If they won't do Batman on TV, then why not Blue Beetle or Mr. Terrific? Ultimately, it's because those two don't have the brand recognition, which means Krypton and Gotham (and Pennyworth and who knows what else) is so often just a show about a logo.

Maybe the Titans and Doom Patrol are good shows, I'll get around to them eventually, probably, but it just feels like DC's TV strategy is to sell the GA on mainstream series on brand alone, and then target dorks with promises of obscurer offbeat characters swearing on a low budget.

And here I am, a dork who wants to see the obscure get the mainstream treatment, stuck in the middle.

My eyes lit up when it was revealed the guy in the snapback from the trailers was Adam Strange. That really got me invested in this show for as long as I was. Mainstream obscurity. Nailed it.

But then they still demanded that I get invested in silly Kryptonian politics and religion. I've never cared about that, and I just can't fake it. As much as I like Star Wars, I was never one of those guys who saw "real Jedi philosophy" as anything other than a silly waste of time.

How does Doomsday look better on a TV show than on the big screen?

@SageMode - Two words, no Snyder.

I will start by saying this, first half of this show season was absolute shit but man the second half was freaking awesome. Brainiac and doomsday were on point and it is really sad when Doomsday on a television show looks a million times better than Teenage Mutant Ninja doomsday in the DC film universe

There, Doomsday.
Was not hard.

There Brainiac
Was not hard

Now take those designs and give it 140 million.

Now if this show can make Adam Strange look like Adam Strange, that would be Super. Oh hell add Superman as well, Supergirl aint using him.

Sad when a tv budget production does a better Doomsday than the $150+ million film.

@8thDoctor - I love her too, but she sure is tall at 6'3"!Her and Gwen Christie are giants!...for a woman!

@Forthas - It's a great height for a superhero role!
I'd love for either of them to play Big Barda or Red Sonja, if they're willing to put on the muscle for it (Christie is closer, obviously), Giganta or any other big, badass superhero character.

@8thDoctor - Debicki is already in the MCU. She was in the last Guardians of the Galaxy.

@Forthas - Yeah, but the role isn't exactly a big one, even if creating Warlock in a tube is a big development, and I'm not sure there's anything there for her after GotG3. Also, she could easily play Giganta in WW3 as a 1 off, Marvel and DC don't seem to mind sharing secondary characters actors. Maybe not star in New Gods, I actually expect DuVernay to get a very tall black woman for this one.
