LEGENDS OF TOMORROW Season 5 Trailer Is Completely Bonkers As The Team Faces Its Biggest Crisis Yet

Whether you want them or not, the Legends are back! Ahead of the Waverider crew's return in next week's "Crisis on Infinite Earths," The CW has released the new trailer for Legends of Tomorrow season five!

With a Crisis incoming, The CW has released the first official trailer for DC's Legends of Tomorrow season five, featuring some never-before-seen footage that can only be described as completely bonkers.

It's hard to determine much of what's going on plot-wise, but it does appear that the vast majority of the cast will come out of "Crisis on Infinite Earths" unscathed, as we get quick looks at Ray Palmer (Brandon Routh), Sara Lance (Caity Lotz), Charlie (Maisie Richardson-Sellers), Zari Tomaz (Tala Ashe), Ava Sharpe (Jes Macallan), Nora Darhk (Courtney Ford), Mona Wu (Ramona Young), Nate Heywood (Nick Zano), Mick Rory (Dominic Purcell) and John Constantine (Matt Ryan) getting into all kinds of zany time-bending adventures as they face the threats unleashed by Astra Logue (Olivia Swann).

It also looks like Kingdom Come Superman (Brandon Routh) may have a role to play on Legends after his appearance in "Crisis on Infinite Earths," although that's yet-to-be-determined. The early footage of him does appear to be from the Batwoman hour of the five-part crossover.

"Crisis on Infinite Earths" begins with Supergirl on December 8, followed by Batwoman on December 9, The Flash on December 10 and concludes with an Arrow/Legends of Tomorrow double header on January 14, 2020.

BLACK LIGHTNING JOINS THE ARROWVERSE IN THE THIRD CHAPTER OF THE CROSSOVER - Pariah (Tom Cavanagh) enlists Black Lightning (guest star Cress Williams) to help stop the Anti-Monitor (guest star LaMonica Garrett) after Flash-90 (guest star John Wesley Shipp) shares what he learned from his battle in 'Elseworlds.' With the help of Black Lightning, Barry (Grant Gustin), Cisco (Carlos Valdes) and Killer Frost (Danielle Panabaker) come up with a plan that could save them all. Meanwhile, Iris (Candice Patton) has a heart-to-heart with Ryan Choi (guest star Osric Chau), while Oliver (guest star Stephen Amell) and Diggle (guest star David Ramsey) return to an old familiar stomping ground. David McWhirter directed the episode with story by Eric Wallace and teleplay by Lauren Certo & Sterling Gates (#609). Original airdate 12/10/2019.

I like the fact that they have so many of these shows that they decided, "eff it, we're just going to have one show where we do whatever we want". The other shows are so serious (read: melodramatic), that it's nice to have one that's like "and then a tree monster shoots heart farts at the heroes, who defeat it with tap dancing rocket shoes!"

Certainly looks like it will be one hell of a batshit crazy season. Some neat stuff in the trailer (i.e. Ray bursting someone from the inside, lots of Beebo).

I just hope this season is return to S2/S3 quality, and not S4 quality (which had a lot of stupidity and missed opportunities, ultimately ending up being disappointing).
