We're now less than 30 days away from the premiere of The Sandman, and some new promo stills for Netflix's small-screen adaptation of Neil Gaiman's seminal comic series have been shared online (via Empire Magazine).

The first two give us another look at Morpheus (Tom Sturridge), Lucifer (Gwendoline Christie) and Mazikeen(?) the demon, while the third provides our first (low-res) glimpse of Abel (Asim Chaudhry) and his pet gargoyle Goldie.

We also have quotes from Christie from the latest issue of Empire, as the Game of Thrones alum expresses excitement at the prospect of bringing The Devil to life.

“I was so thrilled Allen Heinberg asked me to play Lucifer, because it is a grandiose part,” says the actress. “There are few castings that can supersede that – maybe God, whatever that is! Also, it’s fun to be awful.”

We recently learned that Warner Bros. Discovery would have a (smaller than usual) presence at San Diego Comic-Con next month, and while most of the studio's upcoming DC movies are not expected to be showcased to any significant degree, there is a Hall H panel planned for The Sandman. Some new footage is anticipated, and Collider's Steve Weintraub has heard that the first episode may even screen for those in attendance.

The Sandman is set to premiere on August 5. Check out the new images below, along with the recently released trailer, and let us know what you think.

"There is another world that waits for all of us when we close our eyes and sleep — a place called the Dreaming, where The Sandman, Master of Dreams (Tom Sturridge), gives shape to all of our deepest fears and fantasies. But when Dream is unexpectedly captured and held prisoner for a century, his absence sets off a series of events that will change both the dreaming and waking worlds forever. To restore order, Dream must journey across different worlds and timelines to mend the mistakes he’s made during his vast existence, revisiting old friends and foes, and meeting new entities — both cosmic and human — along the way."

The Sandman also stars Jenna Coleman as Johanna Constantine, Kirby Howell-Baptiste as Death, Charles Dance as black magician Roderick Burgess, and Sanjeeve Bhaskar as Cain. Joely Richardson will play Ethel Cripps, while David Thewlis will take on the role of her son John Dee, aka the deranged Dr. Destiny.

The 10-episode first season of The Sandman will adapt the first two arcs of the Vertigo comics series, "Preludes and Nocturnes" and "The Dolls House."

Gwendoline Christie's lucifer has one of the all time shittest haircuts, just looks awful. Also It's dumb that he's played by a woman.

@braunermegda - As someone who is somewhat curious to see what Gwen can do as Lucifer, lets not pretend like he was always meant to be a gender-fluid character, when it fact it was just Gaiman basing Lucifer's design on David Bowie.

@Superspecialawesomeguy - its uncanny, no questions about that but... you know Bowie himself had some "fluidity" between what we consider genders, right?

btw, I love how many characters on sandman were based off on rockstars

@braunermegda - Oh yeah he defo had some androgynous qualities about him but that doesn't change the fact NG's Luicfer is still supposed to be male.

The aesthetic is throwing me off. I guess I'm not accustomed to the whole CW meets Forever 21 demonic vibe.
