According to Mashable, Greg Grunberg (LOST, Heroes, Star Wars: The Force Awakens) has been tapped for a "badass recurring role" on season 3 of The Flash. Apparently he'll be playing a police detective named Tom Patterson, who is described as "a gruff, stalwart figure at Central City Police Department, who is unwavering in his commitment to protecting Central City from the dangerous metas that threaten it."

As far as I know Patterson isn't an established DC Comics character, but please correct me if I'm wrong on that.

Grunberg will make his debut during next week's "Killer Frost" episode of The Flash, which was directed by his Geeking Out co-host, Kevin Smith.
