THE FLASH: Susan Walters Confirms Return As Caitlin's Mother In Season 5; Casting For Her Father Is Underway

After sitting out all of season four, Susan Walters has confirmed that she'll be reprising her role as Dr. Carol Tannhauser in the upcoming fifth season. Plus, expect to get news on her father soon!

While the upcoming fifth season of The Flash will primarily focus on Barry Allen's (Grant Gustin) simultaneous quest to help his daughter (Jessica Parker Kennedy) while also finding a way to defeat Cicada (Chris Klein), there's also plenty of Killer Frost (Danielle Panabaker) action to come as we learn more about Caitlin's childhood and how she and her frosty alter-ego became one and the same.

With the season expected to delve deep into Caitlin's youth, Susan Walters (The Vampire Diaries) has confirmed that she'll be reprising her role as Caitlin's mother, Dr. Carol Tannhauser. Her episode count has yet-to-be-revealed, but expect to see her return sooner than later as she's already begun filming.

On another note, it appears the series is indeed in the midst of casting Caitlin's father. TV Line has confirmed The Hashtag Show's report from earlier this week, which described him as "a Caucasian male in his 50’s, Dr. Snow is an extremely intelligent geneticist who has been MIA for a few decades. As he returns to Central City, Dr. Snow will do his best to make up for lost time with his daughter Caitlin and his wife Carla. But what they don’t know about Thomas is that he is keeping a big and mysterious secret."

Matching wits with The Thinker, who by season’s end had harnessed the powers of all twelve bus metas he created, stretched Team Flash to their limits, but with the help of some new allies, Barry Allen (aka The Flash) and company were able to put a stop to the Enlightenment and save Central City once again. However, with the arrival of Barry and Iris’ speedster daughter, Nora, who arrived from the future admitting to having made a “big mistake,” things are anything but status quo. Will parenthood be the challenge that finally slows The Flash down?

The Flash features:
Grant Gustin as Barry Allen/The Flash
Candice Patton as Iris West-Allen
Danielle Panabaker as Caitlin Snow/Killer Frost
Carlos Valdes as Cisco Ramon/Vibe
Tom Cavanagh as Dr. Harrison Wells
Jesse L. Martin as Detective Joe West
John Wesley Shipp as Henry Allen/Jay Garrick
Michelle Harrison as Nora Allen
Keiynan Lonsdale as Wally West/Kid Flash
Violett Beane as Jesse Quick
Danielle Nicolet as Cecille Horton
Hartley Sawyer as Ralph Dibny/Elongated Man
Jessica Parker Kennedy as Nora Allen
Chris Klein as Cicada
