Alas, poor Yorick will not be returning for a second season.

In devastating news for a show that struggled to find its way to the screen for so many years, it was recently announced that FX/Hulu has cancelled Y: The Last Man just seven episodes in to its ten episode first season. At the time, we assumed low viewership was to blame, but as it turns out, those numbers had very little - if anything - to do with the network's decision.

According to THR, it all came down to FX execs not wanting to fork out to keep the cast on board after their options expired, with a decision on the future of the show needing to be made by October 15. Apparently, the delays resulting from the various showrunner and cast changes forced FX to extend options on the original and newer actors, and Y: TLM was simply deemed too costly (it would have set them back $3 million) to renew for a second run.

It's a huge shame, of course, but all may not be lost. Showrunner Eliza Clark is committed to finding a new home for the show, with HBO Max the most likely destination.

This property is CURSED. I watched a few episodes and it was okay but Yorick was boring and there was just something stale about the show as a whole.

Well I guess thats one less show I need to check out.

Too bad, seemed cool and it has been in development for a long time.

Hopefully HBOMax picks it up

Never watched the show, figured it wouldn't make it to the end.

NGL, I cried like a little girl when the monkey died in the comic. Great book.

I was on episode 6. It was a good show.

@WaffeX - I thought the show was worth a watch, given I was a fan of the comics. The Sibling leads are more unlikable off the bat here, but probably an 'eventual' redemption arc?

The comics are better, in that, Yorick is given more agency & it's funnier. This show is a bit gloomier, but well done, to a degree.

I'm gonna give this a try when all episodes have aired. Now that I know there won't be a second season (anytime soon), I'm not in a hurry to watch it anymore

I've never read the graphic novel, but I have been watching the show. The production value and cinematography is top notch for a TV series, but I can't help but feel the two leads are miscast. I could be wrong but I'm just not buying their performance, or maybe I just don't like their characters. BUT I still think it at least deserves a second season. These shows often have growing pains.

Titans on the other hand i feel should just give up now, but hey, we're getting a 4th season of that, so anything's possible.

@Jaykay21 - I've been watching the show & it feels like they're about to hit the old the walking dead stuck on a farm bit. I think the two lead siblings Yorick & Hero are being played as unlikable to start with, but will 'eventually' be redeemed as a a character arc - Too little too late.

The graphic novel is better in that sense. Yorick is funnier & given more agency.

I’ve been waiting for it to finish airing, but the episodes I saw were just ok. Doesn’t come close to what the comic is, but the potential is all there and it could learn from what works and what doesn’t. Hope it gets a chance.

The comic book deserves it, there´s a reason why so many people wanted to adapted it since it came out. There´s been talk on doing it for over a decade now
Also WB its stupid for licensing away their cashcows.
they gave away LOTR to amazon and Sandman tonetflix, while they´re building there own streaming service? wtf are they thinking?
