Y: The Last Man Movie Update

Disturbia director D.J. Caruso is still loosely attached to the project, after attempting to get an adap made back in 2008 with Shia Labouf!

last we heard of the live action adap of Brian K. Vaughan's acclaimed comic, Disturbia Director D.J Caruso planned on stepping behind the camera, and casting Shia Labouf in the lead role or Yorick. Well, that was back in 2008 and there has been no word since, until now.

MTV News caught up with Caruso on the set of his upcoming film I Am Number Four and got an update on teh movie..

"It's still in active development at New Line, I'm still kind of loosely attached."

"We've taken about four cracks at the screenplay," he explained. "It's been a really tough one, only because there's so much that you cover and trying to narrow it down [is a problem]."

Caruso then spoke about his plans for making a trilogy, while of course, the studio wanted to cram a lot more story into just the one movie..

"My problem that I have with New Line [is], they're good people, but I felt you had to make this film as a trilogy, [I felt] that you really had to deal with books one through four on their own. And I think there was a different philosophy there. They really wanted to cover a lot more ground [in one film], which I didn't think would make for a great movie. I thought you'd be cramming too much into one movie."

Well, fair play to him for sticking to his guns anyway. But it looks like we might still see Caruso helm this one..

"So that's where we left off," He continues "Maybe when I get back [from shooting 'I Am Number Four'] we'll try to get back into it. I really do love that project, so I hope we can make something work out. That's been the problem. I think we've all felt the same frustration about it."

If you haven't read Y, like many DC/Vertigo comics, do so! You won't be disappointed. I definitely hope this happens, although maybe not with Labouf as Yorick. I'm not one of these people that thinks he is the anti-Christ, but I just don't think he seems right for that role.

For those of you unfamiliar with the comic..
