It's being reported that Josh Whitehouse (Poldark, Valley Girl) has been cast in one of the male lead roles in HBO's upcoming Game of Thrones prequel show. Plus, has George R.R. Martin revealed the title?

Last night, we found out that Naoimi Watts had landed the female lead role in HBO's planned Game of Thrones prequel series, and now Deadline reports that she'll be joined by Poldark actor Josh Whitehouse.

While we did get a brief description of Watts' character, there are zero details on who Whitehouse will be playing. However, we do know that it will be a "key role," though not the central male lead.

In related news, it looks like A Song of Ice and Fire creator George R.R. Martin may have revealed the title of the show when he Tweeted confirmation of Watts' casting.

It's worth noting that none of the trade reports mention "The Long Night" as the show's official title, so this could simply be what Martin is referring to it as for the time being.

“Taking place thousands of years before the events of Game of Thrones, the series chronicles the world’s descent from the golden Age of Heroes into its darkest hour. And only one thing is for sure: from the horrifying secrets of Westeros’s history to the true origin of the white walkers, the mysteries of the East, to the Starks of legend … it’s not the story we think we know.”

I’m happy for more content, but GRRM needs to finish the original series first. This is getting silly.

I've been planning to start watching Poldark, it seems interesting and until The Crown returns I need some new period drama series to check out. (I also have to see Downtown Abbey before the movie comes out next year)

That must also be the title.

@TheManWithoutFear - This is immediately what I thought of. Have you been listening to it? It's been great.

@L0RDbuckethead - I have. I heard the first 5 anyway. I'm..... Kind of unsure on it. The production level is really good but the writing I find iffy and it is slow. Wolverine is barely in it so far. I'll stick with it though.

@TheManWithoutFear - Really? That's interesting to hear because I've enjoyed it so far. It is my first comic via audiobook medium though, so that may be why I'm enjoying it more.

No disrespect intended when I say this, but for a man of a certain age and weight, death looms. Perhaps he should spend more focus on the finishing of his books so his greatest legacy isnt left unfinished. Could you imagine if Tolkien dropped dead before finishing the Lord of the Rings? I'm not trying to be crass or unfeeling but he could drop dead tomorrow. Anyone could really. I dont want his series to have to be completed by pasting together his notes and rough drafts and be ghostwritten by someone else. Finish your magnum opus, dude. Before it's too late.

My excitement for the books started suffering with the last (two) book(s). Same for the show and the last season(s).

Now my interest in the continuation of the books is declining, and with it my interest in this fictional world as a whole. Will watch the final season of GoT, but that might be it then for me personally.

@Kyos - I personally enjoyed Dance of Dragons, but it still was certainly no Storm of Swords.

I've enjoyed all the season of the show even the last one, which was a huge dip in quality due to pacing issues, bad character deaths (they did you wrong Littlefinger) and rushed conclusions to plot threads. I think season 6 was one of the strongest seasons and I completely enjoyed it.

I'm interested to see what they do with this, but I'm more excited for the end of the main show and anxious for if GRRM will actually live long enough to finish his main series. I'd hate for Brandon Sanderson (an amazing author in his own right) to be famous entirely for finishing TWO of the biggest fantasy series of all time.

At this point I’m seriously convinced he’s going to die before he finishes the books

Last I heard 'The Winds of Winter' should come out next year (how many years have we been hearing that?), he released 'Fire and Blood' this year and it was supposed to be one this year and the other next year. I hope that's true, but next year they should start shooting 'The Long Night' and 'A Dream of Spring' will never be finished if that gets multiple seasons.

Would have rather seen it be about Robert's rebellion and the events leading up to it, I'm just not that into the Children of the Forest/White Walker story/origin. However I am not kidding myself, I will watch regardless.
