GAME OF THRONES Season 8 Premiere Incinerates Series Record With 17.4 Million Multiplatform Viewers

HBO has released the viewing figures for last night's season 8 premiere of Game of Thrones, and according to the cable network, the episode brought in a series record 17.4 million viewers. Check it out...

After a torturous 2-year wait, the season 8 premiere of Game of Thrones was always going to be a major event, and it's now been revealed that a series record 17.4 million viewers tuned in to witness the beginning of the fantasy drama series' final set of storylines. That includes the 11.8 million television viewers who watched at 9 p.m. last night, as well as those who watched two encore presentations and streamed the show with the HBO Go or HBO Now apps.

The previous record for the mega-popular show was set by the season seven finale, which drew in 16.9 million viewers in August of 2017.

Although it had its share of big moments, "Winterfell" was a relatively quiet installment by Game of Thrones standards - but based on the promo for next week's ep, it looks like The Long Night will be on our heroes' doorstep a lot sooner than most of us expected.

Tell us, did you tune in for Game of Thrones last night? If so, what did you think of the final season premiere?
