whatever helps you sleep at night :/...... what a mess that final season was :(

She's on record for hating the final season also - her reactions when asked about it say enough. She's secretly happy she was not forced to pretend the last season was amazing.

Honestly the show had problems from around the 3rd/4th season and what occured was the culmination of those.

@Scarilian - 3rd/4th season? Please elaborate, to me season 7 was the point no return.

@Scarilian - huh. literally the first and only person I ever come across to express such a sentiment. I mean if you felt that way, I'm genuinely surprised you didn't bail on it long ago.

She was amazing in season 8.

@WakandanQueen - this is the fantastic irony. The writing for the most part was markedly underwhelming, but for what Clarke was given, she more than held up her end of the store. Especially considering how much criticism she was often given of the quality of her acting in the first few years. Which I never thought was on the mark. sure she wasn't going to be confused with the best actor on the show even then, but she deserved the role plenty.

The season was definitely disappointing, but there was some greatness sprinkled in there as well. Felt very rushed ofc, but I reallllly liked her performance throughout it and can't wait to see her in more films now that GoT is done.

@Menks123 - The best thing about 8 was when Jaime knighted Brienne, it was an incredibly powerful and satisfying moment for one of my favorite characters.

Which was later pissed on by forcing her and Jaime to get busy just to please the "shippers". It felt like what I would imagine Marvel making Cap and Bucky a couple would feel like, gross pandering.

She’s not wrong... there has to be a lot of love involved for people to throw the kind of anger they did. I suppose it’s less flattering if it’s book fans who hated it, since their love didn’t originate with the show’s work, but I think the show people won enough fans to take some decent credit.

I didn’t hate it myself, as I wasn’t a person who had strong opinions about what “should” have happened, but even I found the execution to be clunky.

I liked the final season, and was OK with the final episode. I would have done some things differently, but that doesn't mean it was the mess many people make it out to be.

@RorMachine - I think most people were upset because their fan theories didn't come to fruition.

Me personally, I felt it needed like 2 more episodes but I enjoyed it overall.

@RorMachine - i don't take it personally or was a hardcore GOT fan like naming a child after one of the characters. but come on Ror .... it felt like they literally wanted to hurry up and finish the series and move on .... not even fan theories but give us something where the character you've built up for years be themselves or the development feels finished .

Regardless of how you felt about that last season, she really stepped it up acting wise.

Emilia Clarke gets it. Meanwhile, Sophie Turner is out here calling fans disrespectful for hating on the final season.

I loved the final season, and I think the endings for all the characters was superb. Wouldn't change a thing.

Still hate 90% of the X-Men franchise, though. Blech.

wait a minute... "the last 4 years before"? okay I'd picked up on the fact over the years that the series had nailed the Best Drama trophy more than once (I barely ever pay much attention to that stuff and literally watching the broadcast, frankly I can't fathom how anyone does, and that's even just the awards itself, not all the red carpet bullshit), but I had no clue those times were in each of the 4 previous seasons.
wow.
So, the FIRST 4 seasons of Game Of Thrones legitimately stack up with pretty much among the superior of any other television in the history of the medium, but they wound up winning the trophy for none of *that*, but for what sure as hell seem to be majority-wise deemed the 'lesser' span of the show. Mind you, I say that even with the qualifier that there are plenty of different little details and moments across season 5 (including arguably the single best ep of the series with "Hardhome"), and while that s6 may generally be considered by most fans to be weaker in the wake of s1-4, but it's the standout from s5-8. Also, I say all this while most definitely NOT being among the "worst. ending. ever! and retroactively wasted the last decade of my life!" crowd when regarding s8 as a whole. Trust me I've got no shortage of issues with it but even throughout s8 there were several things I really dug, while I would classify myself as "disappointed" with the final season, it by no means destroyed the entire thing for me and that I'll never watch a Thrones ep again.

But really, if this going down doesn't demonstrate fairly clearly that the very concept of awards shows for artistic endeavors is just beyond silly.
but this is Hollywood we're talking about, we all know the act of patting yourself on the back ain't going anywhere anytime soon lol

When I finished season 2 (which is when I stopped watching, sorry) I thought "She is going to become the villain in the final season, and you'll see this epic battle between her and Jon Snow and see each ones point of view" and there would this long drawn out campaign...

and they'll lose because they couldn't make peace and stop the white walkers and it would end with what was left of people having to survive in a world over taken by winter.

...

I was mostly right, and my idea was better.
