Could 'Hawkeye' Be Visiting With the AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D. Soon?

Has Clark Gregg revealed an appearance from Clint Barton AKA Hawkeye is on the way? Hit the jump for more!

A recent Facebook post by Clark Gregg, who plays Director Phil Coulson on Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has many wondering if Hawkeye could be joining the team for a few episodes--or perhaps facing them?
The caption-less post was this picture:

One Facebook user commented with "Agent Coulson! You have failed this city!"

Now I don't know what comic book that is from, and of course this could mean nothing, but given that they are about to shoot one another, could Gregg be hinting at a confrontation between the two? What could possibly bring the two to blows?

Hawkeye actor Jeremy Renner recently talked to Reddit about appearing on the show, saying:
"I suppose if it was offered up, there's an outside chance it could happen. I haven't seen the show, so I don't know how it works, but I'm sure the folks at Marvel have ideas, and when they're strong enough, they'll bring 'em to me. But I love me some Clark Gregg, he's so great. We killed him and brought him back to life to do 'Agents of SHIELD,' he's so good!"

I think we'd all love to see Hawkeye on the show, and it'd be fun to see how his dynamic with Adrianne Palicki's Mockingbird plays out. If I were a betting man, though, I'd place my money on Hawkeye not showing up until after the Age of Ultron tie-in. The Avengers have to find out Coulson is alive at some point, right? And it would make the most sense for them all to find out at one time.

So what do you think the odds are of Hawkeye stopping by S.H.I.E.L.D. HQ? Let us know what you think in the comment section below!

After helping to thwart Hydra, Agent Phil Coulson was appointed as Director and tasked with rebuilding the agency. Agent Melinda May, expert pilot, martial artist and longtime friend, will continue to look after Coulson in the wake of the mysterious etchings he's been carving into walls. Grant Ward, highly trained in combat and espionage, was found to be a Hydra mole and a traitor to S.H.I.E.L.D. and locked up away from the world and his former teammates. But this isn't the last we've seen of him... After being left to die in the middle of the ocean by Ward, Agent Leo Fitz, brilliant engineer, and Agent Jemma Simmons, genius bio-chemist, found a way to escape their watery grave. But all did not go well for Fitz, who was left in a coma and may never regain his full cognitive functions; a devastating blow to Simmons. And computer hacker Skye, now a full-fledged S.H.I.E.L.D. agent, discovered her origins as a 0-8-4 — an object of unknown origin — and that her parents were considered "monsters." Could Skye have darkness lying dormant inside of her? Also joining Coulson's core team is Lance Hunter, a dashing mercenary sharp shooter with a quick wit. Since he didn't rise up through the ranks, does he have an ulterior motive for helping out the team.
