They should just give the shield to Darcy to piss people off even more.

@Spock0Clock - judging from that Darcy thread, people won't just be pissed off heads will roll as well

@Spock0Clock - Yes, and then start referring to her as Steve Rogers. Insulting your customers' intelligence is an excellent business strategy.

Full disclosure, I don't really read comics. Which of these legacy characters they're bringing into the MCU are good in the comics? Out of like Falcon Cap, Kate Bishop, and Terminal Cancer Thor. Is there good stuff to adapt/draw from or is it largely garbage and they need to write more original stories? All I remember from 2014 or whenever most of these were introduced was that they were garbage.

@Spagett - Kate Bishop was fine. I'll admit I never gave Thor and Falcon a chance.

I'm not sure I would say garbage. But, yeah, the idea and Marvel NOW as a whole was defo garbage.

@Spagett - The Fraction/Aja Hawkeye series is basically universally beloved. Jason Aaron's Mighty Thor was critically well-received (and in my opinion it's an amazingly well-conceived story and often quite well-written). Sam Wilson as Cap was probably the worst-received and the one that didn't grip me personally. It was overtly political (so there was a bunch of panty-twisting from conservative-ish circles, as well as the more insipid readership that doesn't want "any politics in muh superheroes").

The whole line wide push generally called "Marvel NOW" has a bad reputation because at its core it challenged the most ardent fans (i.e. forty-year-old men who are still passionate about their childhood fairy tales) to get out of their own comfort zones. But these characters are their comfort zones, so it wasn't a particularly effective publishing decision.

But as a public beta-test for what kinds of characters could relieve the G1 Avengers in the movies, I think it was (and still is as these characters continue to permeate the books) a rousing creative success.

It was All-New-All-Different, wasn't it? Brain fart.
