In my headcanon he's leading S.W.O.R.D. as old man Steve with cameo potential for various stuff until we get Secret Invasion where he is abducted and rejuvenated

I like to think he's in the other timeline with his children and grandchildren

@Polaris - but he is in the same timeline as everyone, as seen in Endgame.

@Razorface1 - So Steve went back to the other timeline after giving Sam his shield. Alternate Universe Tony Stark & Hank Pym hooked him up with more Pym Particles and tech. Easy peasy.

By the way, I think that the reason Val said the shield's ownership is in a gray area is because it's from some other timeline. Steve's original shield, which belonged to the government, was destroyed by Thanos. He had to have gotten another one on his journey to return the Infinity Stones to their rightful places.

I think it would be awesome, and I’m sure there’s some precedence in the comics for this, but I think a middle-aged Steve from his alternate Peggy timeline that has tried to make the country/world “perfect” would be a really cool villain idea for Cap 4. Played by Evans of course. He could be running SHIELD now, from the moon, as an older gentleman, in his Winter Soldier stealth suit. Maybe an eyepatch. Let’s goooooo.

This video about Sam’s shield looking different fed into a lot of my theory

My guess is he probably went back to the other timeline again.

I do get why people wonder where Steve is hanging around though, because as far as the world is concerned in the MCU it's young Steve who hang up the cowl and buggered off.

Hey Kevin we're trying to write this show about Captain america and ultimately Steve's legacy can you tell us what happened to Steve?

@MyCoolYoung - I don't think he knows either lol. This stuff is completely up in the air

So is the MCU now a branched reality? Steve coming back to the main timeline would mean that the time line he came back to is now a branched timeline because you can't Chan... Screw it [frick] time travel

Lets all go to the moon and hang out with Captain Rogers... If he's not on the moon then he's on ice in Wakanda.

Maybe the Captains America of the multiverse work together and old Steve is the head of this corporation. Maybe Bucky is Captain America in another Universe.

They basically confirmed what I thought. We don't know where Steve is, because they don't know either. Pretty hilarious actually.

For my head canon, he's dead. Falcon said he was "gone", FFH said he was dead, so I'm just gonna go with that. Until proven otherwise of course.

But they're leaving it vague until Feige figures it out.

@KWilly - but how would the kids at peters high school know that when it's a mystery to the rest of the world?

@Origame - Kids at Peter's high school just went off what the real world news was telling them, lol

@KWilly - if there's no confirmation he'd just be missing in action.

They'll keep it vague until Evans is ready to come back. I feel like the odds of Downey coming back are slim to none, but Evans still has a lot of prime years in him

This was honestly my biggest gripe with the show... how do they make a show about the legacy about Captain America and never explain where Steve went?

He could be in the old timeline, he could be chilling in Jamaica, or he could be in space with Fury. Who knows!

Doctor Strange will time travel back to Peggy's and ask her to give him a letter when Steve shows up, when he receives the letter, Dr Strange warns him of future events, Cap doesn't miss his window at the end of Endgame and shows back up. He warns the rest of the Avengers of the impending doom that's about to go down. The movie then fast forwards 3-5 years later and the Avengers have prepped for this one event to happen. I'm kidding of course. KF

I thought I heard that Kevin Feige said that people would be able to skip the shows and still understand the movies. So to me that means that certain major beats of the MCU will not be explained in the shows. For our main or supporting characters we've known up until this point, the shows will be used to flesh out what last occurred for them at the conclusion of Endgame.

Example, Steve gives Sam the shield at the end of endgame. If I skip the show, and see Captain America 4, it will still make sense to me. Last I knew, Steve is an old man that returned back to our timeline and gave Sam his shield VS them explaining where Steve is which might confuse me in the next movie because I missed the tv show.

I'm assuming Captain America 4 will explain where he is or pick up a new plot for him.

I was a bit underwhelmed by this show In general, I still liked it but it just wasn't up to the mcu par.

I always thought of the MCU as the "Prime timeline". All alternative timelines branch off from that one. There is no 2nd Steve in the main MCU because it's Prime-1.

"Prime-2" would be the timeline Steve stayed with Peggy & had kids. It would've unfolded very differently than "Prime-1", and have two Steves.

The other timelines where the stones were taken would just be derivatives from "Prime-1".

Steve probably just returned back to "Prime-2" after giving Sam the shield.
