Today's episode of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier picks up six years ago in Wakanda, where we find Ayo reciting HYDRA's code words to Bucky as he sits by a campfire. He's not convinced it will work but breaks down when he manages to hear all of them without becoming the Winter Soldier again. In the present day, he and Ayo talk, and she reminds him of everything Zemo has done. Giving him eight hours until the Dora Milaje will come for the man who murdered King T'Chaka, he returns to Zemo's apartment and fills him and Sam in on what's happening.

Zemo has an interesting take on what it means to be a super soldier, and believes that Karli Morgenthau is a supremacist who will not stop until either she, or Sam, are dead as The Falcon is convinced he can help her. The trio searches for the Flag-Smashers with no luck until Zemo talks to a child and finds out when and where Donya's (the woman who raised Karli) funeral is taking place. We're reminded that he lost his son, and he relays what he's learned to Sam and Bucky...without telling them all the details because he knows they'll just hand him over to Ayo. Sam reaches out to Sharon Carter for help with a satellite, while Karli retrieves what's left of the super soldier serum. Hours later, Captain America and Battlestar catch up with Sam, Bucky, and Zemo, and they agree that Sam should try to talk Karli down before they all move in.

Sam actually manages to get through to her, but an increasingly unhinged John Walker decides that he's going in, and after handcuffing Zemo, he makes it clear how much he resents Bucky for having the serum in him. As you might expect, the new Cap screws everything up, while the Baron is able to escape and shoots Karli before destroying what's left of the serum. He's taken out by a well-placed shield to the face, and it's then Walker finds one last vial. Back at Zemo's apartment, Ayo and the Dora Milaje arrive, making short work of...well, everyone. Walker is particularly humiliated, but in all the commotion, Zemo escapes into the sewers and vanishes. Talking to Battlestar, a beaten Walker later ponders taking the serum, while back in the U.S., Sarah Wilson hears from Karli who threatens her kids and tells her to pass on a message to Sam (her real plan is to kill Captain America).

Sharon comes through for Sam and Bucky, and the heroes all move in to capture the Flag-Smashers. Battlestar is captured, and Cap shows off his newfound superhuman strength. However, just as Karli is about to get the better of John, Lemar throws himself in the way and takes a blow from the villain that instantly kills him. Cap loses it, chases down a Flag-Smasher, and very publicly beats him to death with his shield. As he stands there with Steve's shield covered in blood, a horrified Karli watches from a distance, as do Sam and Bucky.

Walker Unhinged was good. Looking forward to next week. While i'm loving Baron Zemo's new persona, i'm still uneasy with how his character has transitioned with the amount of time we've seen him onscreen.

He was not comical at all in civil war, and now he's the main scene stealer. Great villain but the transition wasn't so smooth.

Otherwise great episode.

@Jaykay21 - I think it easy to forget it's been roughly 7-8 years since we saw him in Civil War. We don't know if he disappeared with the Snap. But if he didn't. Spending 7 years locked up and reflecting could have changed his personality quite a bit.

WHat an episode that was. Finally this is what this show should be and the more serious tone helped it a lot by making the stakes higher. Only minor thing i didn't like was Falcon trying to talk Karli out of it. I mean she kills innocent people.
Also my boy Walker is finally all juiced up and ready to serve some justice!!!!!

@Nemesis17then - never saw that rumour. Would definitely elevate things though. But the fact that it was delayed due to filming during the pandemic is making me think Black Panther won't show up.

Unless he's masked 90% of the time.

@Nemesis17then - After this episode it sure does feel like that’s what is going to happen...

@Jaykay21 - Yeah I meade it up based on where the plot seems to be going. Well they started filming in November 2019 to February 2020 when they paused and Chadwick died in August 2020 so maybe he filmed in that timeframe (November-February). I mean they don't always film n chronological order

@Nemesis17then - Chadwick said more than once he wasn't going to do TV.

@Nemesis17then - That's true, but condition he was it looked quite obvious he was not well, or others were thinkning he lost all the weight for a role.

@MadThanos - Even if he refused to do TV i think a contracted appearance is still an appearance, whether its on a streamer or not. Either way i can't see people taking it in a negative way that he showed up (if so)

@MadThanos - Oh i didn't know that

@Jaykay21 - Yeah i guess we'll see. Either way I think that whoever it is it will be a satisfying cameo. The director didn't seem to be joking.

@Jaykay21 - he needed to accept the TV terms on his contract in the first place. To some actors, TV doing TV is a highly depreciation on their careers. I choose to believe in Chadwick, himself saying more than once "because I don't want to do TV".

@MadThanos - well maybe you're right, but appear in a event mini series on a streamer isn't so different to do a film that goes straight to streaming, like his last couple of films did.

But yeah I doubt he's showing up, well his face anyway.

This show and WandaVision have both had hiccups in terms of tone. Sometimes it just doesn’t work. But overall, I’m enjoying this show. Stoked to see how this all plays out
