That was trending worldwide yesterday following the final episode of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, and Anthony Mackie has now taken to Twitter to share his gratitude with fans of the series.

Sharing a shot of himself suited up as the Marvel Cinematic Universe's new Captain America, he says: "What a Friday it has been...thank you to everyone who’s seen The Falcon and The Winter Soldier."

In our review of yesterday's episode, we concluded by saying, "The Falcon and The Winter Soldier's finale ushers in a bold new era of storytelling for the Marvel Cinematic Universe in an episode that sees Anthony Mackie firmly establish himself as the deserving new face of this shared world."

Hours after the finale hit Disney+, it was confirmed that Marvel Studios is moving forward with a Captain America 4 from The Falcon and The Winter Soldier showrunner Malcolm Spellman.

As you might expect, that will feature Anthony Mackie's Sam Wilson in the lead role. As for Chris Evans' rumoured MCU return, that's reportedly a separate project. We don't know what direction that will head in, but speculation points to it focusing on Steve Rogers' trip back through the MCU's timeline.

Check out Mackie's Tweet, and that new shot of Captain America, below:

Stupid, obvious question: the Wakandans created the ENTIRE suit (not just the wings), and therefore all of it is Vibranium, right?

@tylerzero - yes.

@tylerzero - I’m pretty sure it’s just the wings that are vibranium. I think what makes Black Panthers suit make sense to be all vibranium is that it covers his entire body, leaving no exposed areas.

Where as Sam’s kind of exposed in the most vulnerable area of his body.

The suit kind of reminded me of the Red Daredevil Suit from the end of season 1 - i.e. the fitting doesn't seem to be quite right, and it's a little too chunky and and padded in places (particularly the shoulders here).

Daredevil Season 2 obviously utilised the extra period of development time to fix all those things for the second season so it's not something I'd be overly worried about going forward.

I got the chance to watch the episode last night and it was one of the strongest episodes of the show. I think the series didnt exactly reach what it was going for, but it was still a good show overall.

Also instead of being a skrull I'm thinking Sharon is being mind controlled by Dr. Faustus. I really expected the call to end with Sharon saying "Hail Hydra". I hope they can possibly explore that in Captian America 4 with Dr. Faustus as an antagonist.

What a great end to the season. I hope that they do a second season. I really enjoyed how this entire show was based off of Sam's burden of receiving the shield from Steve in endgame. The character moments were so fun and the seriousness / idea of Captain America / how big of shoes Steve left all had significant impact throughout the show and will be so interesting see Sam embrace or struggle with. This show is really a bridge and is really two movies. This is The Captain America we need right now.
