Clint Barton found himself embroiled in the world of LARPing in the second episode of Hawkeye, and a new featurette reveals that one of them was decked out in a comic accurate Hawkeye costume, mask & all.

In the second episode of Hawkeye, Clint Barton found himself attempting to recover his old Ronin costume at a LARPing event. Despite doing his best to make it look like he wasn't having fun, the Avenger definitely started to get into it before falling in battle in order to retrieve the suit.

Marvel Studios has now released a featurette for the series delving into the making of that LARP (oh, that's live action role-playing in case you're unfamiliar) sequence.

It makes for interesting viewing, but the biggest takeaway here is that one of the extras on set was decked out in a comic accurate Hawkeye suit. He even has the eagle wings and giant "H" on his head, and we're guessing Clint's reaction was cut in preference of his awkward conversation with Kate Bishop about wearing a superhero suit in today's episode.

That's a shame, and we can't help but wish for a version of Hawkeye where the hero was forced to wear this costume in order to take part in the LARPing event!

Check out the new featurette for the show below:

Why not? Maybe they're saving it for Clint ^_^

Could see that be a suit Clint borrows when he returns hanging around with the LARPers

@bkmeijer - If he does hope he washes it first cause it comes with free funk.

Worst part of the show so far imo.. I didn't find it awesome or funny at all, just silly.

@ElvenKingSlayer - Lots of people find it silly. But I had a friend since childhood who got into this after high school (1980) and has been into it since. He met his future wife there, and lots of people seriously enjoy the f#ck of it. Different strokes...

What I got out of it was a small character arc (if you can call it that) of Clint's that started with him threatening this guy and ended with him playing along with guy's LARPing and even telling this guy he could him "Clint" when it was over with. And I loved the conversation between them that lead to Clint's little "character arc".

@ElvenKingSlayer - That scene was so well executed that you genuinely just have to hate fun to have not enjoyed it lmao

@Waddles - I actually kind of agree with him, though still enjoyed the scene for what it was. The problem I had was it dragged on for so long, with him having to go through the process of getting into the larp festival, get to the guy, have the whole back and forth for the deal to get the suit back, then get everyone around for the final duel (which we know Clint is purposefully losing anyway, so its dragged out unnecessarily long too).

This scene is one of the reasons I feel it should've been a movie rather than a TV show. Especially since it's taking more from Christmas movies and films like die hard and lethal weapon.

@Waddles - I collected action figures for about the last fifteen years AND I also the humor of Monty Python. How's "that" for silly?

@ElvenKingSlayer - People have "silly lines" they don't cross. I love Monty Python, but I thought The Goodies were too silly.

How can you not like that scene? Of course it’s cringe, he was irritated during all of it. That was the fun and humor of that whole scene, I loved it.

Believe it or not, but I was legitimately trying to keep an eye out for this exact Easter egg. It was just the perfect time for it. It was a fun scene

don't you love when they make suits look bad because they don't want to use them.

That mask for Hawkeye would work if they wanted it to. BOOOOOO! lol

forgetting all the other suits that should look ridiculous in real life and they don't . A walking talking Fishbowl doesn't get any more ridiculous and it looks comic accurate and amazing on screen.

Should have kept the scene. Would have been a nice touch in keeping with the cheesy comic accurate costumes appearing on the shows.

I understand taste is subjective and different strokes and all.... but if you dislike the Larp scene you genuinely might be a psychopath.
ElricReturns
ElricReturns - 12/1/2021, 11:50 AM
I would have loved it if before Clint showed up to the Larp we get a scene of a bunch of Larpers teasing the guy in the Hawkeye costume about how stupid he looks and laughing at him.

Then everything plays out as it does in the show, Clint gets his Ronin suit from Grills and starts leaving the Larp, but after shouting "Bye, Grills!", we see Clint pass the Hawkeye suit guy leaning up a tree looking sad, and in passing Clint stops for a moment and earnestly says "Huh.... cool suit." And keeps walking, and we see the guy kinda peep up and smile.

And that's literally it. It doesn't like inspire him to make his own or anything, just a funny nod.

@ElricReturns - That'd be a really cute moment. I would've enjoyed that.

Not gonna lie, I really like it. The mask needs to be touched up more, but it's a decent try for something that's not made to look like the really expensive gear a superhero would wear.

Found this sequence badly executed to be honest. Dont know if it was the direction or just Renner's genuine lack of interest. Came off very sluggish, which sucks cause it could have been fun.
LSHF
LSHF - 12/2/2021, 8:55 PM
@Ojeet78 - "...Renner's genuine lack of interest."

OR, his character's genuine lack of interest. He's supposed to do what the director wants (that's his job), so, more than likely, if he did his job, his "lack of interest" that you see is from Clint. I mean, Clint showed zero interest in it at the very beginning, but he just played along so he could get the suit without kicking anyone's ass. You just have to follow the character.
