New X-MEN: THE GIFTED Featurette Takes A Closer Look At Mutants Like Polaris And Thunderbird

Fox's upcoming X-Men TV series The Gifted has already come under fire from fans for its portrayal of the Sentinels but a new featurette for the series will at least get you excited about the mutants...

The Gifted...doesn't look great. While there's a chance the show could exceed expectations, the series many fans thought would pit the Morlocks against comic accurate Sentinels looks a lot like a generic sci-fi drama with those iconic foes of the X-Men now looking a lot more like typical low budget robots.

On the plus side, the mutants set to appear in the show do look a little better. The video below takes a close up look at Thunderbird, Polaris, Blink, and a few others and promises big things from them all.

Whether or not The Gifted will live up to expectations in that respect is hard to say but as it's been confirmed that it takes place in a world with no X-Men, its links to the source material are likely to be vague at best. Still, Fox hopes to further exploit this franchise on television so assuming people tune in (as they have with Gotham which is amazingly entering its fourth season), they're likely to continue.

While, I understand why they are making the family "the main characters" (they are the audiences view of the world).

I really hope eventually it transitions to were these mutants (Polaris, blink etc ) are the main focus.
