THE GIFTED Season 2 Stars Jaimie Chung And Sean Teale Tease The Appearance Of Morlocks & The Purifiers
The first trailer for The Gifted Season 2 provided us with an excellent look at what's to come when the show returns in September, and now a few members of the cast further tease Morlock and The Purifiers.
Fox TV and Marvel recently released the first trailer for The Gifted Season 2, and aside from a brief moment that introduced the Morlocks, it mostly put the spotlight on the returning heroes as they deal with the threat posed by the Hellfire Club.
But unlike Season 1, which was fairly light on major players from the X-Men comics, fans will see more elements from the source material - like the Morlocks - play a significant role in the second season.
“It’s the proper mutant underground, like, they’re literally mutants that live underground,” actress Jaime Chung joked during a group interview with the cast, comparing the Morlocks to Blink's own team. “That’s a really interesting story line, but you get to see a different side, or a different society, of how mutants could live freely — but underground.”
Along with the Morlocks, actor Sean Teale also teased the return of a certain villainous group of humans, who made an appearance during a flashback scene in Season 1.
“The Purifiers are a mutant hate group," Teale explained before sarcastically saying, "I don’t know what parallels we could compare that to in mordern-day times. If only we had an idea. They’re tiki torch-carrying mutant haters.”
Teale then took a moment to explain that the major status quo change at the end of Season 1, which saw our heroes go on the run, is what allows the show to explore more "subsets of the mutant world" outside of the Mutant Underground and the Hellfire Club.
In all, the inclusion of more significant characters from the comics will likely excite fans who want more than just references to groups like the X-Men and the Brotherhood.
