Fret not, Cowboy Bebop fans, for Radical Ed is indeed a part of Netflix's live-action adaptation of the iconic anime series.

The fan-favorite character was not expected to appear after being notably absent from the main cast announcements, but they do show up at a pivotal point, and are sure to join Spike, Jet and Faye on their adventures should the show be renewed for a second season.

Now, Netflix has officially introduced newcomer Eden Perkins (they/them) as Ed - full name Edward Wong Hau Pepelu Tivruski IV - via a short GIF which also gives us a first look at the hacker extraordinaire.

Spoilers for the Cowboy Bebop finale ahead.

In the last episode, "Supernova Symphony," Ed and Ein find Spike passed out in an alley, where the rather excitable teen tells the forlorn bounty hunter that they have a dangerous job for him which involves tracking down someone known as the Butterfly Man (we're going to assume this is actually Vincent Volaju).

Have you guys been enjoying Cowboy Bebop? How do you think it compares to the anime? Drop us a comment down below, and be sure to check out our review here.

Bruh they could’ve waited a few days. Show must be THAT BAD if they’re pulling this out now. Netflix gonna Netflix. Just started episode 1.

@OdinMed - That's too bad, I guess this will be a tough watch. Well, at least there's Arcane.

Wow, this ending completely ignores the point of Spike.

Spike without the tragedy in his story isn't Spike. He couldn't open himself to the possibility of being fulfilled after losing Julia. Spike continually fails to realize he has recovered what was taken from him and that he doesn't need to keep chasing his former life. But that's the point.

@BlackBeltJones - It’s going to end up being Spike getting into an uneasy alliance with Vicious to enact revenge on Julia…Generic Hollywood at its best…

It seems like instead of having Spike chase his former life with Julia they’ll have him re-embrace Vicious as his “brother”…It only makes sense that’s where they want to take this…They went HEAVY with the family angle in this series already…With Jet being an absent father, and showing Faye refocus her entire drive for wanting to find her past as being a grand search for her real parents…

@vegetaray - I’m 7 episodes in and it’s awful. Shakir as Jet is the only glimmer of a gem.

You’re exactly right. I can see it going that route. The Jet as an absentee father bit is so cliche. Rolled my eyes when I realized what they’re doing.

I had my own issues with the ending, but they were always going to leave the story open to continue. I really liked the season overall... the three leads were excellent.

@RorMachine - I'm excited to give it a watch, mainly because this same studio is making the live action One Piece show.

This piqued my interest so I tried checking out the anime last week but found it unwatchable. This genre just isn't for me I guess.

I know Netflix is all about the bingers that watch their shows in 2 sittings max, but didn't this show release like a day ago? What's up with dropping the sequel hook (called it!) so soon?

It's funny that after going through the trouble of giving us their pronouns they immediately misgender Ed in the following tweet.

Netflix doing a shitty version of a beloved anime?

Going to finish up the season this weekend…

So far it’s a little strange to me…Sometimes it feels like it jumped right out of the same universe as the anime…Other times it feels and looks like it’s bad cosplay…

As far as the characters…I get trying to change a story to maybe put your own spin on it…But this feels like the changes were made because they didn’t like the way the played in the original…Just feels off…The casting has been great…I love the fight scenes…Even the look of the characters themselves is really good (Except for the hair piece they threw on the guy playing Vicious 🙄)…

So yeah…We’ll see how this thing shakes out…If they’re already releasing snippets of Ed then I’d imagine season 2 is definitely going to happen…Could be an issue like they had with the Witcher where the first season is shaky but with hopes that season 2 will find its footing…

I’m enjoying it so far, some choices are weird but I don’t hold the anime on a pedestal like a lot of people do. Hoping they get the chance to respond to feedback with a second season.
