We first heard about Netflix's plans for a Pacific Rim anime series last October, and the streamer has now shared a first look at the show via an exciting teaser trailer.

Set in the same universe as Guillermo del Toro's original movie and its inferior sequel, Pacific Rim: The Black focuses on two teenag siblings named Taylor and Hayley who must figure out how to pilot long-decommissioned Jaegers in order to defend their home when monstrous Kaiju rise from the depths and begin to lay waste to Australia.

Pacific Rim: The Black hails from writers Craig Kyle (Thor: Ragnarok) and Greg Johnson (X-Men: Evolution), and is set to premiere on Netflix on March 4. Check out the first teaser below along with a synopsis, and let us know what you think.

There was a time when Kaiju rose from the Pacific Rim only to encounter gigantic robots, Jaegers, built to fight them back. That time has passed. Now, Australia has been overrun by Kaiju, forcing the evacuation of an entire continent. Left behind, teenage siblings Taylor and Hayley embark on a desperate search for their missing parents, teaching themselves to pilot a battered, long-abandoned Jaeger to help in their quest and give them even the slightest hope of surviving.

Pacific Rim has some great potential that's just waiting to be tapped into.
That first film was just dripping with imagination and passion for creativity.
The more kaiju the better, I say

If Kong v Godzilla is a success maybe would be time for one of those to crossover into the Pacific Rim franchise

@Spidey91 - not nearly as good as the original but I thought it was still a blast and gets a bad rep. My friends and I had a great time at the theaters watching it!

@TheFireForce - the anime trilogy could have been better but once you get past how different it is it's still a pretty good sci-fi story. The problem was the pacing more than anything, it really should have been a two-parter rather than a trilogy.
You could totally skip the last half of the first part and lead right into Mechagodzilla City and have a much tighter overall story.

@TheFireForce - I think the anime is actually really good but only if you don't view it as a godzilla series.

I feel that a Godzilla/Kong/Pacific Rim crossover would be better as an animated feature than a big-budget live-action film. The way films are now and controversy with streaming services it would be better to start off small.
