Back in April, we learned that everyone's favorite dysfunctional family would be returning to Netflix as the streaming service announced a second season for Umbrella Academy. It now appears that filming and production on the sophomore season of the superhero series is underway.

Over the weekend, the official Umbrella Academy social media account posted a behind-the-scenes video featuring the cast of the show celebrating the first table read for season two. It seems that the entire family — yes, even Ben (Justin Min) — is back and "coming at you hot." No real details are shared, but the cast does a nice job of hyping the upcoming second season.

Gerard Way, creator of the comic series and co-executive producer of the Netflix adaptation, also shared some photos while teasing, "It begins."

Back in May, the Umbrella Academy teased the script for what is presumed to be the second season's first episode, titled Right Back Where We Started. The plot of season two remains a mystery, but will likely pick up from the season one cliffhanger.

Spoiler: the first season ended with all five characters surviving the apocalypse by jumping through time. The title of the premiere episode of season two suggests they went back in time and we'll spend at least some portion getting to see more of their childhood. Season one of Umbrella Academy deviated from the comics quite a bit, so the show's writers can seemingly go in any direction for the sophmore season.

Umbrella Academy released on Netflix in February of this year and was an instant hit for the streaming service. Data revealed the superhero drama actually outperformed the first season of Stranger Things, which is widely regarded as one of Netflix's top shows.

I would not mind if Klaus dies to be honest. Worst character in the show by far. I was really expecting them to do something interesting with him (especially when he time travelled) but they just didn't.

@DnA - Klaus was the only reason I stuck with the show for the dreadfully slow first 3 or 4 episodes.

Loved Season 1. Curious to see where it goes from here. Could be interesting or could go off the rails really fast. Seems like good casting/acting may have saved Season 1 from doing so.

I enjoyed season 1. It definitely kept me coming back for me. Some explanation about their powers etc. would be awesome. Why they were chosen. What about the other children born that day etc.
