As part of Netflix's "Geeked "Week" (which hasn't been quite as revealing as we'd hoped), the streaming service has shared the first - quite brief - teaser for the second season of The Witcher

The spotlight is primarily put on Ciri as she trains to become a Witcher, and it certainly helps set the stage for what promises to be an exciting season. We should have already seen these episodes by now, of course, but the COVID-19 pandemic halted production and shooting only recently wrapped.

A premiere date hasn't been revealed, but with the announcement of an event called "WitcherCon" on July 9, we're anticipating some big news about the world of The Witcher to arrive then.

Henry Cavill will reprise his role as Geralt of Rivia in the upcoming second season, as will Anya Chalotra (Yennefer), Freya Allan (Ciri), and Joey Batey (Jaskier).

New additions include Yasen Atour as the witcher Coen, Agnes Bjorn as the bruxa Vereena, Paul Bullion as the witcher Lambert, Thue Ersted Rasmussen as the witcher Eskel, Aisha Fabienne Ross as Lydia, Kristofer Hivju as Nivellen, and Mecia Simson as Francesca. There are also some big rumours doing the rounds about the show's new villain, but we won't spoil that here.

Check out the teaser below:

No matter what happens, this image exists so the franchise is a net positive.

Despite its faults I thought Cavill was pretty good in the first season overall. Looking froward to it.

What a time to be a nerd. There's something for everyone to geek out over. But also, I need season two now. I just hope we're done with the jumping back and forth in time whiplashes.

Witcher game news? I'm getting hyped.

Also, Amazon is now selling English box-sets of the series. They're incomplete, but a decent way to start buying the books if you want to get into them. Box-set 1 includes the first 2 books, but not the final one that's also an anthology taking place between them, and box-set 2 only has the first 3 in the main saga, rather than all 5.

The first series was imperfect but fun. Hopefully they can improve on the second run because it has what it takes to be great if they make the right changes

I hope Season 2 is better. That whole Season 1 timeline was confusing as [frick].

I've read 2 books, played 2 games and liked the first season well enough. Looking forward to this.
