After a brief hiatus, filming has resumed on Rogue One: A Star Wars Story spinoff Andor in The UK, and we have some revealing new photos from the Cleveleys promenade set.

SPOILERS: The 5 Biggest Moments From The ROGUE ONE Trailers That Weren't In The Movie

The snaps provide our first good look at Diego Luna in costume as returning Rebel hero Cassian Andor, along with some Storm/Sandtroopers, and an actor in a motion-capture suit. Alan Tudyk has already confirmed that reprogrammed Imperial Droid K-2SO won't appear (at least, not in this first season), so the identity of this character remains a mystery for now.

Check out the photos below, along with last year's behind-the-scenes sizzle reel.

Andor will follow the adventures of Rebel fighter Cassian Andor during the formative years of the Rebellion and prior to the events of Rogue One. The rousing spy thriller will "explore tales filled with espionage and daring missions to restore hope to a galaxy in the grip of a ruthless Empire."

Toby Haynes (Black Mirror) will helm the show, stepping in to replace original director Tony Gilroy, who was reportedly forced to drop out due to COVID-19 related travel restrictions. The Americans producer Stephen Schiff will serve as showrunner on the series, which will also feature Adria Arjona, Denise Gough, Genevieve O’Reilly, Stellan Skarsgard, and Kyle Soller in undisclosed roles.

Andor is set to premiere on Disney+ in 2022.

I have 0 interest in this. The character was instantly disposable in Rogue One to the point I thought Andor was a planet when they first revealed the title of this.

I like the actor though and maybe anticipation being lower than the ocean seafloor will make it pretty darn easy for it to exceed expectations.

Okay, he doesn't look bad, but you can tell Diego Luna has gotten older since Rogue One...

Also, Tudyk better be lying about not being in this season. I need AT LEAST a cameo from him at some point to ensure that a second season even CAN happen. Nobody needed an Andor series made except for Diego Luna's NEED for a paycheck

@xfan320 -
You know making the show isn’t Diego’s decision right ? So it wasn’t his NEED for a paycheck what got this green lit. I understand some people not finding this series necessary but it certainly isn’t Diego calling the shots. Yes he accepted the work, getting paid millions to play in the Star Wars universe ? Who wouldn’t ? Work is work.

Rouge One started out with a very interesting take on the Rebellion, showing us the murky side to it, which was great. The movie then never really followed it up.

If this is a show about the more underground, French Resistance during WW2 type thing then it really could be offering something new and different. Show Leia, not physically, but show her being a rebel leader.

As for the character, I guess it is better to do a show like this with a character you know, but I feel it is a missed opportunity to introduce someone new.

That’s a Shore Trooper, not a Sand Trooper.

Just like Han Solo, you have a character whose interesting character development happens in the movie that we've already seen, set beyond this series. I'm sure it will have decent action and great production but MC can't really grow and we know where he's headed.

I didn't really have hype for this before, but no K2 means no me lol

I have no idea why Kathleen Kennedy hates the Force and Force wielders, but it seems like most projects she'd like minimize them as much as possible. Here's the second one where they will most likely be a non factor and it'll probably be a dud too.

The only thing I'm looking forward to in this show is that dark stuff Andor talked about he did in Rogue One. Really hope they don't nerf that (even though they nerged Han's bad attitude in Solo as well)
