RANGERS OF THE NEW REPUBLIC Scripts Were Never Written; Ideas Could Not Be Incorporated Into THE MANDALORIAN

Rangers of the New Republic was scrapped by Lucasfilm after Gina Carano's firing, and it's now been confirmed that scripts for the Disney+ series were never actually written. Find more details here...

The success of The Mandalorian led to Disney+ announcing an entire slate of TV shows, including Rangers of the New Republic. Very little was revealed about the show, though we do know that Cara Dune was expected to be a lead character. Of course, actress Gina Carano ended up being fired for what Disney considered "abhorrent" social media posts. She is now working on movies with Ben Shapiro.

As a result, Lucasfilm moved on from the Cara Dune character and Rangers of the New Republic fell by the wayside. During a recent interview with Empire Magazine (via ComicBook.com), Kathleen Kennedy shared an update on the project that seemingly never got past the announcement stage.

"We'd never written any scripts or anything on that," the Lucasfilm President said of the cancelled series. "Some of that will figure into future episodes, I'm sure, of Mandalorian."

Clearly, Rangers of the New Republic isn't happening at this point, so we're unlikely to ever know what form this series would have taken. There's been no word on how Cara Dune will be written out of this Galaxy Far, Far Away, though we're expecting the character to either be killed off screen or never mentioned again (it doesn't sound like there are plans to recast the role).

The Mandalorian season 3 is currently shooting, so we could see how ideas for the scrapped show will be incorporated into that when the story of Din Djarin continues next year.

As always, keep checking back here for updates!
