THE RISE OF SKYWALKER Actually Ties A NEW HOPE As The Shortest STAR WARS Movie Yet

Despite rumors that The Rise of Skywalker was set to be one of the longest Star Wars movies yet, director J.J. Abrams has now revealed the official run-time, and it's quite a bit shorter than we expected.

Previous reports indicated that Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker was going to clock in an 2 hours 35 minutes, making it the longest Star Wars movie yet. However, director J.J. Abrams has now revealed the film's real run-time, and it turns out the final installment in the Skywalker Saga is actually going to be one of the shortest.

During an interview on EWLive on SiriusXM 109, Abrams confirmed that work has now officially finished on The Rise of Skywalker, and the movie is “two hours and 21 minutes” long. This means The Rise of Skywalker has the exact same run-time as 1977’s A New Hope, tying that classic adventure as the shortest installment in the entire saga.

Interestingly, Abrams also revealed that a copy of the movie's script was being sold on eBay after a cast member (he didn't name them) left a copy under a hotel bed! A Disney exec was apparently able to
purchase the script before a member of the public got their hands on it, however.
