THE MANDALORIAN Star Pedro Pascal Talks In Detail About Din Djarin's Emotional Farewell To Grogu

Pedro Pascal (Wonder Woman 1984) has opened up on filming those emotional final scenes in The Mandalorian's season two finale, sharing his take on the bounty hunter's emotional reaction to saying goodbye.

Season two of The Mandalorian ended with Din Djarin bidding an emotional farewell to Grogu as he handed The Child over to Luke Skywalker. A strong bond had been formed between the two since that fateful first meeting, and it culminated perfectly with their emotional farewell in the "The Rescue."

During a recent interview with IndieWire, Pedro Pascal reflected on the lengths Din was willing to go to in order to save Grogu, including removing his helmet in the Imperial base in the penultimate episode.

"The entire idea of getting to inhabit somebody who, since they were a child, no human has seen their face. It was almost impossible to imagine the level of nakedness and exposure, the overwhelming paralysis," the actor explains. "It can’t happen, but it’s a mission and the child has to be saved. It was a super-exciting dance of profound, incredible restraint and total exposure."

"I can count on my one hand the lines the character had. On the other hand, he’s desperately trying to hide in a room without a mask with his face exposed. It was cool and it was strange."

The Wonder Woman 1984 star went on to talk more about Din's decision to remove his helmet to say goodbye to Grogu, shedding some light on the character's motivations in that particular moment.

"At that point, I knew what it would mean for everyone to experience that kind of threshold between the character and the child. We follow this story for two seasons; there’s this bond that grows between the two of them. He tries to not let himself soften, but he cannot help himself. This practical story logic brought something else about that moment, what it would mean to touch his face."

It was a scene which hit us all right in the feels, and Pascal delivered an incredible, emotional performance. The Mandalorian will continue without Grogu, though, and it's looking like the plan now is to focus on the Darksaber and Mandalore (Bo-Katan Kryze wants to get her hands on that ancient weapon, even if it means squaring off with Din). First, though, we're getting The Book of Boba Fett
