We got a first look at some Superman-centric footage from Naomi during DC FanDome back in October, and EW has now released some new promo stills for the upcoming CW series, one of which reveals a surprising Hawkman/Hawkgirl connection.

The titular teen heroine (Kaci Walfall) is going to have a mentor in the Ava DuVernay-produced show: Dee (Alexander Wraith), a tattoo parlor owner who, as Naomi soon learns, is actually from the planet Thanagar.

"He's kind of like her Mr. Miyagi," says Walfall. "He really believes in her more than she can believe in herself. Although he doesn't have all the answers, he teaches her more and more about how to control herself."

Get a first look at Dee at the link below.

Ava DuVernay teamed with Arrow writer and co-exec producer Jill Blankenship to write and exec produce the project, which is based on the 2019 teen superhero tale of the same name from writers Brian Michael Bendis and David F. Walker, and artist Jamal Campbell.

The comic follows Naomi McDuffie, a teenage superhero from an alternate Earth with energy-based powers who discovers that she was sent to the Prime Universe to be preserved from Zumbado, the destructive conqueror of her home planet. The show is expected to focus on "a teen girl’s journey from her small northwestern town to the heights of the multiverse. When a supernatural event shakes her hometown to the core, Naomi sets out to uncover its origins, and what she discovers will challenge everything we believe about our heroes."

Naomi also stars Cranston Johnson (Filthy Rich, P-Valley) and newcomer Camila Moreno. Sarah Bremner and Paul Garnes are also on board as producers. No premiere date has been announced, but the show is expected to hit our screens in 2022.

"Stop racebending characters. There are tons of non-white characters they could use."

Those characters get tv shows/movies:

"Who is this? Why should I care? There are other more deserving characters."

Y'all are so confused, I swear.

So the CW has basically become Teen Vogue for TV, right?

I truly don't care about the CWverse of heroes, but they did this show dirty. They released that teaser that told you nothing about the show.

A more intriguing teaser but that also doesn't reveal much yet about the show's plot or how much it is going to stick with the canon.

The person spoking to that woman must be Zumbado, perhaps.

And that character with the wings seems to be Thanagarian, Dee.

I honestly reccomend everyone to read this interview from EW, since it teases that Naomi's story in this 1st Season is gonna be some kind of slow-burn as she discovers her powers little by little so we can't really be expecting from her inmediate action from compared to some of her previous DC peers shows.

It's gonna be quite the Season 1 journey basically.

Love the 6 issue run. My comic sense was tingling, so I bought 3 of every issue, and print. I've got 1 9.8 complete set for me. 1 Emanuela Lupacchino 9.8 coming back with another set from CGC left. The 3rd print of #1 is the only one I have on the market now.The only cover I never got was the SDCC cover. I will check this show out for sure. I think we will get a Smallville vibe from it. I would not be surprised if we get a cameo of Tyler Hoechlin in the first 2 ep.
