VENOM Adds THE LEGO BATMAN MOVIE Actress Jenny Slate In A Mysterious Scientist Role

We recently found out that Michelle Williams had joined the cast of Sony's Venom movie, and now Variety reports that Jenny Slate (Parks and Recreation, Obvious Child, The Lego Batman Movie) is also in talks to come aboard the Spider-Man spinoff.

The trade doesn't specify which character she'll play, but does mention that she's a scientist. Established Marvel Comics scientist or someone created just for the movie? Only time will tell.

Zombieland's Ruben Fleischer is directing the movie, which will star Tom Hardy in the lead role of Eddie Brock. Riz Ahmed has also been confirmed, though who he'll be playing remains a mystery. Apparently, an actor is still being sought to portray Carnage.

Venom is set to open Oct. 5, 2018.

@rabid - I love all the symbiotes! I'm thinking The Priest that Venom beat down will become Anti-Venom in the current run. Last ish, Venom, without Eddie apologize to the priest, so who knows? I'd like to see Anti-Venom back.

@rabid - I LOVE agent Venom. I think he should take over Toxin now that Eddie has Venom. Toxin is younger, but has more experience with law enforcement and military type training from his other hosts. Eddie was trained by the FBI tactical unit and Patrick Mulligan of the NYPD. Could be a great fit!?!?! I can only imagine the form he takes with Flash in the red and black!

@Lostcause - That would be awesome. Toxin is a good city for him. I'm still upset that he and Peter have never sat down and talked secret identities. The did in an alternate Spiderverse, but it was brief and doesn't count. I just think there's major potential there for a closer bond between the two characters, considering their long history.

@rabid - I AGREE! Flash is Spider's #1 fan. He started the damn fan club! Can you imagine the look on their faces and all the "Flashbacks" of wedgies and swirlies taken and given over their history! They need a book together! Having Toxin would lessen a lot of the feelings of animosity that Venom would have and the trust issues Spider would feel. I'd buy that run! Time to send a few emails to MARVEL SPIDEY OFFICE!
