I think if and this is a big IF, he ends up in a movie with Tom Holland’s Spider-man, Venom will form a spider symbol on his chest to be more like him or at least have the public accept him.
I’m sure Sony has something up its sleeve.

For the most part, the design of Venom in the film was pretty good, but not including the classic chest symbol was stupid.

@MrDandy -

Not including the classic chest symbol wasn't the only stupid thing they did, I heard;
I have not seen this movie and probably I never will
one of the reasons I didn't care for it
is because in the comics Venom is a direct result between Peter & Eddie
not as depicted in the movie (trashed by so many)

@Equivocal - I thought about all this. I say watch it still. I believe it would make more sense that Venom mimics spider-man after being with him initially. So im pretty happy they didn't just throw the comic book venom symbol on his chest. But rather they had a lighter color vein like substance that could come together later on to form the symbol if they introduce Venom into the MCU. Then once Venom sees spiderman and likes what he sees, then he could mimic his web slinging and his spider symbol. Was a fun movie all together. Was better the second time i watched it. Didn't like the first time as I compared this venom to the only venom I really knew from the 90's cartoon.

It's actually supposed to be a dragon symbol now.

For once I agree with Josh. Those symbols are ridiculous.

I really don't want to see a Venom sequel. That movie was just so blah.

Thinking back about this movie. The best part for me was the banter between Eddie and Venom. That seem to help separate it from other superhero flicks.

Of course Josh doesn't like these. They aren't the best but could've been a step in the right direction.

I was one of the biggest supporters of this movie, because I love the idea of a Venom film that has nothing to do with Spiderman, and tom Hardy would be my number one pick for the role.

This movie with that casting SHOULD have been incredible. There is SO much potential there for an intelligent, psychological thriller film with big budget effects, superpowers and creatures. We need an antihero with big film superpowers. How much ass would Punisher kick if he could fly?

But I hated the film. It was terrible, stupid, ugly (so much potential for great visuals!) and generic. I didn’t really like any aspect of it. What a waste.

I would love to see it done in the style and tone of the movie The Guest with Dan Stevens from Legion. Bright neon colours to help Venom stand out (this movie was just a big grey concrete mess). A bluesy, classic rock soundtrack. A witty, psychologically probing script. And have Hardy voice the character without all that sound editing. Something less monstrous and more creepy. Like his voice from Peaky Blinders. A jekyll and hyde film where Venom helps Eddie express his darker side. Maybe even a revenge film, but with a sense of humour.

Plus I know comic loyalists wouldnt like it but I’d drop the alien stuff and just make the symbiote an experiment gone wrong. But then I’ve never liked aliens.

I think him having a white splotch on his chest that KINDA looks like a V would have been better than nothing.

Venom was an OK movie, I enjoyed some of it. The sequel should be better.

I wouldn't call those symbols ridiculous. I think it would have been pretty cool for him to have some type of white pattern on his chest so when it bonds to Peter, the pattern morphs into the Spider symbol. Though, I'd wish to never see it get that far. A Venom sequel shouldn't see the light of day.

It makes sense, it looks like a Butterfly. And the mighty Monarch butterfly is the most poisonous of all! Right, @BlueMorpho ?

I didn't have that big of a complaint on how he looked, however if you want to talk about anything else IMO that movie was easily forgettable, like a 2000 movie lol

@bobevanz - It's better off forgotten, tbh.

I think they might as well have given him the classic symbol. Who cares if he got it from Spider-Man? He's called Venom; just give him a big ol' spider thingy on his chest. It makes enough sense on its own.
rabid

I don't want to see the spider markings on his chest until he meets Spider-Man. It wouldn't make much sense.

Some sort of white pattern would have been better than what we got in the finished film. It just works better from an objective, graphic standpoint. They should have brought in Todd McFarlane to consult on the design!

So I guess this proves that Venom could have been (slightly) worse after all. Who'da thunkit?
