Venom was a box office hit, but fans and critics found plenty to dislike about the Sony Pictures movie. Visually, the symbiote did look pretty cool, even though that iconic symbol was missing from his chest (this can be blamed on Spider-Man not being the alien's original host in that reality).

Now, Venom concept artist and Look Development Lead Matt Millard has shared some of his early designs for the anti-hero inspired by Mark Bagley's comic book work.

While the artist is best known for Ultimate Spider-Man, he also illustrated many of Venom's early adventures in the pages of Amazing Spider-Man. This take on the big screen version of the character appears to have taken inspiration from both titles, and is a very cool interpretation of Eddie Brock's other.

Based on what we saw in the first trailer for Venom: Let There Be Carnage, Venom hasn't been overhauled or redesigned to any large degree. However, it is possible that after his clash with Cletus Kasady, the alien will evolve in some way (though we're betting if that is the plan, it won't be until Venom meets Spider-Man).

Check out Millard's spectacular take on Venom below:

Ignoring the obvious lack of the Spider symbol on his chest I don't mind the design they went with either.
The films biggest problem was a formulaic, MCU inspires plot that lacked all the moments that usually make these movies stand out regardless of their formula.

The film was uninspired and felt like a hollow shell barely anyone cared about (except Tom Hardy who chewed the scenery, spit it back up and then drank it like a milkshake l)

I really don't like Ultimate Marvel's take on Venom as an artificial lifeform created by human scientists on Earth (let alone Richard Parker) but damn do I love the way Mark Bagley draws the character. Maybe if we're able to get an MCU version of Venom at some point he could look like this.

It’s good but it’s a little to Raimi Spiderman in the eyes for me. I think the one we got is pretty on point minus the lack of the white Spider although I get why that’s a thing

This is amazing!! Why do 90% of the time movies always discard the cool designs! The one we have now in the movie is good but it reminds me too much of Flubber tbh.
