Like it or not, Sony's Venom movie is happening. Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige has confirmed that it won't take place in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and that's left a lot of fans very confused.

This new report from Omega Underground is unlikely to help matters as the site claims that principle photography is going to take place in Atlanta and New York City from September 1st. The former is where Marvel shoots the vast majority of their movies, while the latter is, of course, a location which is synonymous with Eddie Brock's classic comic book origin story and his many battles with Spider-Man.

Whether this means Venom will follow the source material or make reference to Spider-Man remains to be seen, but that's certainly the hope among fans. We're obviously going to have to wait and see!

Venom was written by Jeff Pinkner and Scott Rosenberg and is being directed by Zombieland helmer Ruben Fletcher. Tom Hardy is playing Eddie Brock and it's coming on October 5th, 2018.
