Andy can’t you do better than this?

@BlackBeltJones -

Welcome to the lobster tank, Andy.

@BlackBeltJones - Iono so far he has just been making b-level films. Mowgli went straight to netflix and his directorial debut breathe has mixed to poor reviews. I say he needs Venom 2 if he wants to keep directing or else he should just stick to acting/motion capturing.

@BlackBeltJones - He can do better content wise, but money wise.. not so much. These movies pay out like no others do right now

Brilliant actor, meh director.
Saga

Since he played so many mocap roles I wonder if Serkis will push for Venom and Carnage to have more human faces to allow performance capture

@Saga - persoanlly i would like that. i think alittle redesign to Venom would be nice... even though he looked pretty good in what was an entertainable, yet terrible movie

@Saga - Andy Serkis also has to be the symbiote's voice when he talks to Kasady. It would be a silly decision not to use Serkis' voice.

if true, good luck Andy, i'm rooting for you... but i feel he can do better

I know Andy Serkis the actor deserves better than this but I don't know if Andy Serkis the director does

My preferred choice for what is at its core a Creature Feature.

Now waiting for the final confirmation and additional casting.

What's with all these "He can do better than this" comments? Would you rather have a bad/mediocre filmmaker helming the movie?

This is great news. It's a step in the right direction. We deserve better directors to be involved in these projects. Hopefully he'll bring some quality to this series, the same way Gunn will for Suicide Squad 2.

@TheMaster2011 - Unless they let him either completely reinvent the character of Brock to make him more watchable or they let him pretty much soft-reboot the whole thing like with Ghost Rider 2 or what Gunn seems to be doing with Suicide Squad, there’s no reason to get too excited about this.

Even if Stanley Kubrick came back from the grave to direct Venom 2 I still wouldn't give a shit. This franchise shouldn't exist and is an abomination to the character Venom/Brock himself. Screw Pascal and screw this sony pseudo spider-man universe bullshit.

Haven't seen anything that Serkis has directed. But I'm hopeful it will still be a good choice. I'm hoping they will lean more into comedy honestly. Since that was the best aspect of the original. When Venom himself got really goofy and silly. But then again the first movie sucks anyway, so just soft reboot :)

Hope this means Venom 2 will be a big step up from one. I liked the corny charm of the first one, but a better story and a better villain would be much appreciated.

To me, this is going to set the tone for Serkis as a director. The movie title is big enough to give notice too, with a budget behind it.

Too bad they couldn’t get Kinberg for this- he’d be a perfect fit. I guess his schedule filled up too quickly after his “directing” debut.

Superspecialawesomeguy - 8/1/2019, 7:43 AM
It was the writing that was wrong with the movie not the director.
